RIP Chuck Negron lead singer of Three Dog Night. One great thing about having a brother 6 years older, you hear music that you wouldn’t have otherwise. He was 84.
Eerily the lead singer of 3 Doors Down Brad Arnold passed as well. Tragic as he was only 47 and when he went to the Doctor’s thinking he had the flu, found out he had Stage 4 cancer.
Another untimely passing - Greg Brown, founding member of Cake who was just 56. He played guitar on their first two albums and wrote their breakout song "The Distance". I really didn't like this song when it first came out, but over time it won me over. Still not my favorite Cake song (that's probably "Stickshifts and Safetybelts") but certainly a classic from the 90's.
I'm so sick of hearing "Seven Nation Army". It was the first song my kid learned to play in his garage band about the same time everyone started playing it after a goal/touch down/homerun, so I'm done with it at this point. However, despite my feelings about the song, I still appreciated hearing the story of how it came to dominate sport:
