Yanks Abroad

There's not been a lot of good news for Yanks abroad as of late.

Cameron is still injured - hasn't played any since Oct 22
Wood has only played in one match (16 minutes) since getting a red card in his Oct 30 match
Johnson has only come off the bench for his last four league appearances
Johannsson has only played 20 minutes since Sept
Guzan - no minutes since Aug
Green - one appearance this season
Carter-Vickers - two appearances this season

 

When you get in the doghouse in the Bundesliga it's a long road back with managers. I remember the quote from Wood's gaffer ripping his red card and went ah oh.

 

Good to see Bobby Wood started and scored albeit in a 3-1 loss for Hamburg.

 

Make that 2 matches in a row for Bobby, and this time his goal was in a big 2-1 win for Hamburg to help them get out of the relegation zone.

Julian Green smartly pursued and signed a contract for 2nd division Stuggart, in hopes of getting much needed playing time.

 

I know this excludes domestic players, but I think it's a telling sign that one of our best attackers abroad is someone that I have never heard of.

I haven't heard of him either, but other than reading about Perry Kitchen's move all the way to captain, kind of strange Johnsen is never mentioned in those Hearts updates. He was born and raised here, but can play for both the US or Norway, but never played for either youth sides. Has gone on an European adventure after high school and seems to be able to score wherever he goes.

 

Was totally unaware, but we do have a yank managing and doing quite well in the Championship. David Wagner was raised in Germany, but earned 8 caps for the US in the mid to late 90's and just missed out on making the 98 WC team. He is now managing at Huddersfield and hopefully will guide them to 7th place at best

 

Ethan Horvath has moved from Molde FK (Norway) to Club Brugge (Belgium). Hard to believe he's still only 21. He could be our national team keeper for many, many years.

Interesting take on Nagbe's status. I'd like to see him take on a new challenge. Wherever that may be....

After starting, then getting pulled in yesterday's FA Cup tie, Hyndman appears to be headed to Scotland on loan.

 

Aaaand, our young genius is staying put for three more seasons, it appears.

 

Hyndman came on in his first match with Rangers as a sub and his assist was a perfectly weighted thing of beauty. Highlights near the bottom, and go to the 1:30 mark. Yedlin video is poor and with no commentary its hard to tell which are his two assists.
