I'm kind of skeptical about this. I doubt he'll feature in the WC and he's got a maturity problem. The smart money is on him staying with Hertha and looking like more of a real player.

For so many reasons, here's hoping this goes well.

Says a lot about how he feels about Bolton and how they've treated him (contract extension after DeJong tackle, and all the knee issues). They've stuck by him and vice versa. Nobody expects him to ever be remotely the same player, but how about going a season or two without any problems?

Makes sense. He had a pretty full tourney; it would be nice for him to kick back a little. What a great player he's turning out to be.

I wonder if JK will acknowledge that he's ... you know ... alive. I'll say this again, performing well in he Championship says more about you than performing well in the first tier in Austria, Sweden, Norway, and MLS, and even the 3rd and 4th tier of German football. It would be nice to see Ream and Packwood get a shot in upcoming matches.

I have no doubts Ream is in the mix moving forward. Snooped around and found a Bolton MB and he has been a jack of all trades. One post of interest was the person who said he was their best CB, best Mid, and best LB. That last spot is crying for someone.

I'd like to see Ream implemented into the next qualifying round and/or Copa America squad, he has performed for Bolton. However, he's close to 27 now, so he must show in the near future for the national team or lose out via ageism. Thing is, I hope the youngsters coming through in the next couple of years prove themselves worthy of pushing this nation forward, to wit, that may be at the expense of Ream and others.

And, off-topic a bit, but does Howard step down soon and pass the torch to Guzan? I guess they're both "abroad," so not much off-topic.

It wasn't hard to picture Guzan as the latest incarnation of Brad Friedel while he was in MLS, but somehow going to Villa seemed to quench the enthusiasm, even though his record is great. Reminds of Keller/Friedel battle to start... Thing is the position four years from now would still be Howard's if he wants it.
Probably just perception but these things happen.

And just a little over a decade ago, the $3 million tag on McBride {arguably a more mature, proven entity} was a sign that MLS wanted to keep him.

At some point you have to wonder who is next after not catching on with Bradley or Ernie Stewert. Will there be any more open doors in MLS? It is amazing to think how divergent Altidore and Adu's careers have been.
