    agree; this thread should be in the international football category.

    By the way, is it just me or is it wonderfully refreshing to see Argentina getting their asses kicked in ANY kind of football tournement?

    Yeah, I went back to see who the idiot was who posted it in 'Other Sports' and it was me.

    Senior Brain fart? Or was I so depressed over the games I went to at WWC 03, that I THINK of it as 'other'?

    Dunno... but I moved it anyway.

    PS: REALLY impressed by Kelly Smith of England earlier today.

    Kelly Smith is good, she went to college in US but you probably already know that. However, I didn't like the thing she did with her shoe vs Japan - a bit obnoxious.

    sneaked in the first half of the Nigeria/USA match before work today. Goal after 56 seconds, but certainly there should be more.

    Interesting free kick decisions from the Japanese ref, but entertaining nonetheless. For us Fulham fans, it's great to see such a collected and effecient back four!

    That was a good find, Spencer... I've never been a fan of DJ {since he was competing with Friedel at L'pool} but that was very good of him.

    The comments in it were a good read, too...

    SWE guts out a 2-1 win against PRK... unfortunate to not get enough goals to go through, though.
    PRK and USA go on.

    Doubleheader Saturday morning:

    * USA-England at 8AM Eastern, and
    * Fulham-Man City at 12 Noon Eastern

    (A tripleheader if you watch one of the EPL matches on FSC/Setanta at 10).

    Our Canadian sisters go out in a shocker... Australia equalizes in extratime.

    Final 2-2. I only saw the last 10 minutes but there was some good play in this.

    Cant say as much about NZ/China, though. 0-0 halftime

    A good US high school girls team could handle NZ. Cant string two passes together.

    Kiwis look to be defending only and counting on luck.

    May be one of those where the losing GK is the best player in the match.

    Jenny Binden - Great!

    And I no sooner typed that than Binden misjudged on a 1-1 and China got their 2nd

    It may not seem like it, but both Argentina and New Zealand could beat pretty much any US College team.

    I think UNC should get its own entry into the WC or some professional league. They have toyed with the NCAA long enough now.

    They could do what BYU did with their men's team, and quit the NCAA to become a USL PDL team. Both the USL W-League and WPSL allow college players to keep their college eligibility while playing in a "professional environment."

    Hey, anybody getting up early to watch the women on Satruday morning? It's 7 a.m. central.

    If so, want to get the chatroom kick started about 4 hours early?

    Andy - You may know this... sorry if you do.
    BYU was competing in the college club league. They were never a full scholarshiped sport due - I think - to title IX restrictions. They did really well in that league and their coach (As far as I hear thru the grapevine) went to the university and convinced them to buy a USL franchise so they could go Semi-pro and find more competition.
    They have done well in the USL as well. I played BYU during my college days - they were always solid.

    What?!!!! Is that a slap at me?

    :banana:

    there is NOTHING wrong with being a know it all when you can contribute some knowledge. Or even Not.. there's all kinds of ways to stimulate ideas.

    I knew nothing about that and I think it's great. Maybe that's what a lot of colleges that cant get past title IX should do. In fact, to hell with NCAA... bet those guys come out just as good players.
