I can't believe this took so long to put Kyle Rote, Jr. in the hall.

I can remember when he was the only American footballer any European ever heard of. I used to tell Brits that him choosing soccer as his sport would be like Bobby Charlton's son taking up baseball.

And the chorus {other'n me and Don} say 'Huh?'

    BIG fambly tradition..
Tobin Rote (cousin) - KOOLEST freakin NAME for a football player, EVER!!!!

I think you better explain it to Franek, Don. He dont think there's much history. Other than the odd Sunday pickup team getting lucky in 50.

    RE: Re: WHY SO LATE?

    Amen.

    I can't believe I still remember this...
As a youngster I was part of a "soccer" TV show. Kyle and some other pro's (I only remember him) would give tips and we would apply them or just be backround when they spoke. He was a very nice man, he approached each of us and shook our hands, as we stood there in awe. Even then I noticed how much he loved the game.

I don't recall ever seeing him play, but I remember him on the old 'Superstars' show on ABC as a kid and he dominated.

Kyle Rote Senior and Doak Walker are STILL the legendary Texas football players. Your Earl Campbells, John David Crows, Vince Campbells, etc. etc. etc. are just spear carriers to those two, which is why Kyle Rote Jr.'s choice of professional sport was so MASSIVE to the game in America.
