Can anyone recommend a casino or pub in Las Vegas that will definitely have the game on Friday, Dec. 26th against the Spurs? I'll be out there for our anniversary with my wife and I'll ask to break away for the game for my present. Thanks....otherhodgson

Looks like any place that has Setanta will have the game, it appears they are not playing it live. It is on at 12:15PM Eastern time.

otherHodgson, not sure where you are staying, but the wifey and I were in Vegas in November and the sportsbook actually had the FFC/Newcastle match (albeit in the top corner screen) at the Mandalay Bay. We watched the last 10 minutes as we were placing bets on the NFL. Since it will be early and won't be competing w/the NFL you can probably get them to turn it on. We don't stay there, but the sportsbook is quality. If you go to soccerbars.com you can track down a pub or two (call ahead to see if their open, showing it, etc..) as well. Good luck and be sure to report back where you caught the match.

Thanks everyone for the replies and recommendations! I'll find out the time that it's airing from my usual game source (my bro that has Setanta) and head over to the Mandalay Bay or one of those other suggestions. Unlimited booze, FFC and gambling, can it get any better than that?

nevzter it looks like your recommendation of the Crown and Anchor will be spot on. They updated their website today and show the Fulham match on at 5am Dec. 26th. They've got $10 down next to it which must mean they charge a cover to watch the early morning games, but heck that's not even one hand of blackjack and at least that means I'm not likely to show up at 5am to a closed Pub. I also changed my hotel to Mandalay Bay as another option and will speak with the guys at the sports book the night before to see if they'll have it on.

Looks like it will be White (day after) Christmas.

Thanks again all and Happy Holidays.

Ok guys, thought I'd circle back with a review on the Crown and Anchor as requested. Got there around 4:50am on Boxing Day and was happy to find the place open. While I had moved to the Mandalay Bay as another alternative, I decided to go try the C&A as I couldn't find anyone in the sportsbook the M.B. when I arrived the late the night before to confirm they'd have the game on. Also decided that the C&A would allow me to hear the game which the M.B. wouldn't.

Arrived at the C&A to find out they had a main room with three flat screens (not that big though) showing the big games (MU, etc.) and asked about FFC and was told would be in the other room. Ordered breakfast and sat in the other room waiting. Had to ask a couple of times about the Fulham game and when they finally got to it the first 15min was gone. The 2 screens in that room were tiny, one was about the size of a normal computer monitor and the other, while not very bright, was probably only 26 inches. Both were 7 feet up on a shelf and therefore a horrible viewing angle.

Watched the game with a Spurs fan that was a nice guy. Noticed a cockroach after I had already ordered my food which was lousy, and one again on the bar as I left.

Bottom line, if you're in Las Vegas and desparate to see the game, this place is better than nothing. However, if you have time to check out and confirm other sources you'd be much better off. Had the match been against a top four and in the main room it would have been slightly better. However, their viewing is overall pretty sorry as I've got 3 HDTVs in the house that are a million times better than the best set they had in the place.

Thanks again all for the recommendations. Best news is that we at least drew and are now 10 unbeaten!

Sounds like an old school pub you went to OH (minus the cucarachas, no place should have those running around). The SoCal crew last met up at the Fox and Hounds in Studio City, similar set up w/a main room and a couple of big screens and a narrow bar area w/small sets. Fortunately we out numbered every other team and watched in the main room.

The sportsbook situation in Vegas is interesting. They are practically the only thing that keeps regular hours and closes nightly. Sadly the only soccer betting at the sportsbooks are during the World Cup, hence the reason matches are rarely if ever shown. The only sportsbook that I've ever seen taking bets on the Prem was at Harrah's in Laughlin, NV of all places a few years ago.

Thanks OH. I appreciate your updating us. I'm off to Vegas this weekend, and was planning to head to the C & A, but will now hope to find another location. Will be sure to post here if I find a good place.

Please do Tim or anyone else with a good lead on where to watch FFC in Las Vegas. I get out there 4 or 5 times a year and it would be good to know of a reliable place.

    Cheers

    Hello all...

Unfortunately, not much to report. I don't believe the game was set to be televised, and, of course, didn't end up happening at all.

That said, I did notice games on in the sports book at the mgm....and the palms had setanta and fsc on in their poker room when I was there.

I may be back next month and will be sure to report on any success.
