We love our Subarus, but once we decide to trade them both in on a single car, they'd better be making Hybrids [and I don't mean Hydrogen] or we won't buy another.

Those old 300D diesel engines run forever. The body will fall apart around the engine and it will keep going. Gotta love oil burners; great gas mileage too!

4 or 5 times, at least, I have considered selling it and buying something newer (and with 4 wheel drive, since I live near one part of the beach you can drive on), but now I feel like it has almost become personal. I owe the darn thing better. It hasn't given up on me, and I'd feel like I was doing a dis-srvice to give up on it.

I {and the missus} drive the best cars Ford ever built.

I am on my second 93 Thunderbird work car and about to take on a third. It's the MN12 platform which is a great road car for my 100 mile commute. It has 260,000 miles on the clock.

Wife drives a 95 Taurus with 202,000 on it.

Both have had minimal maintenance and both models have flaws that can put off a non-mechanically minded owner.

I find that my Fords dont ask to be pampered, only appreciated. Really, it sounds barmy but it seems to be the truth. I've got stories!
I have no reason to believe it's only Fords that are like that, but it also points out why I wouldnt be a good VW or Audi owner because I think they're both highly overrated.

VW's and Audis are terribly unreliable. Bought my Windstar second hand, has fifty thousand miles ( ten thousand of which were put on by us) and it has been a great family vehicle, no problems.

Heh.. bet you missed it by THAT much!

If you bought it new, you bought it late in the model year. Son's GF {early 03 passat} had to have four coils replaced, in shop twice.

Almost certain it wont happen to you now.. it was about 3 months after she got the car.

I drive a 2004 Toyota Corrolla automatic--my first new car I purchased so there's some sentimental value with this car. I really miss driving a stick shift, but it's really useless when driving in DC. Drive 5 ft and stop, continue process until you've reached your destination.

i actually traded in for it, so don't know if it was purchased early in the year or not. Since I traded in for it, I'm assuming the dealer probably took care of that problem if it existed. Let's hope so! Thanks for the notice Fog

That's the main reason why HatterMom replaced her Honda with the Forester. Doonz was an unusually tall and long greyhound, and filled the space behind the back seat nicely.

I want to take the damned bus at this point.

    2002 VW GTi 1.8T

Fun, gas mileage is great (considering it takes SUPER!! UGH!) Roomy... reliable... unless you talking about the dashboard lights.

I blew a cam this summer... cost me a whole new engine (3k+), but solved my dillema about taking it in or selling it... the car went from 85k miles to 20k in a week ;)

Wife has a Scion XB and a 68 VW Beetle. I have a 62 IH Scout and a Hardknock (www.kikker5150.com)

I live about a mile from work so the hardknock is perfect.
