Fun match. Easiest cap Brad Guzan will ever get. Three goals by FFC players. Good workout for Beasley. Nice stuff from Freddy off the bench, and by a still-not-at-full-strength Donovan. And then there's Ching's "almost hattrick," one goal of which he actually knew about. :3d laughing:

Not a bad day all around.

    US 8 - Barbados 0

    Duece gets a duece.
Ching gets a hat trick, wait I mean a brace ... well that last one was definately his.
EJ scored with his head and Bradley and Donovan each get one.

    Great pics LaxAttack.

They must not be very good but they still had a couple of players that could really do some nice things with the ball.

That one forward with the dreads was huge. He was a legit 6'4"-6'5", 220-230 lbs.

That'll play. Nice to see goals for Deuce and EJ.

And yeah, Barbados is not very good.

Is Ching still getting credit for the hat trick? On the broadcast they said they were going to change his second goal to an own goal (which it definitely should be).

It's listed as an own goal on ussoccer.com. (They named Dempsey their MotM, by the way.)

I thought the Barbados keeper had a legitimate gripe on Ching's first, as it did glance off of him and he seemed pretty clearly to have been offsides when Mastroeni took his initial shot. If I were he, I think I would've been upset by Donovan's goal, too, taken while he was still getting his wall set up. Nicely placed by Landon, to be sure, but I thought he could've waited until the Barbados players were ready even though the ref said he could go ahead. There are some situations where you need to press that advantage and some (like when you're already up 3-0 against a clearly overmatched opponent) when it wouldn't kill you to wait.

The official scoring was an own goal according to the reports I have read.

BTW saying Barbados is not very good is being very generous. I am pretty sure last years Indiana boys state high school champions could have put up a better fight and I am not being to cruel because they did finish with a #2 national ranking.

I'm glad jmh mentioned the Donovan free kick and when it's appropriate to quick kick. Already up 3-0, I think it was a chicken-shit / bush-league move.

Here's to hoping we see the youngsters next weekend in Barbados. I'm at a loss for words b/c I can't bash EJ today...haha!

I don't know if I can agree with you about the Donovan free kick. I saw the Mexican referee give the "go ahead" sign TWICE.

The sad thing about this match is that it tells Bradley nothing, with the exception of the fact that Adu can do pretty decently in a withdrawn midfield role -- as he did when he first came on. There was no midfield pressure from Barbados, so we can't assess the effectiveness of our mids, and outside of about 10 seconds of pressure in two parts that Gooch handled quite easily, I have no idea how he could assess the defensive performance of our defenders. They ATTACKED well, but I think Cherundolo and Pearce have had much more demanding workouts in daily training with their club sides.

I understand where you're coming from HD, and I agree that Donovan wasn't cheating when he took the kick...but, personally, I thought it lacked class considering the circumstances.

A positive garnered is that the drubbing will allow Bradley to bleed some youngsters next week and evaluate the talent - if the USMNT prospects selected (hopefully) aren't up for Barbados, they'll probably never be up for any opponent and their respective names can be confidently crossed-off the player pool list.

    Did y'all see this score?

    Bermuda 2- 1 Trinidad
    In T &T!!
Bermuda only has 60,000 people and they beat a world cup team on the road. If they can hang on at home they'll be in our group.

Bermuda?? birthplace of Shorts?? I didn't see that, I had thought that Mexico only beating Belize 2-0 was the biggest surprise, but T&T possibly going out would be a shocker.

I was a little unsure what Bradley was doing in this game. It appeared as though he was playing a 4-2-2-2. The consistent wide players were Pearce and Cherundolo. Beas was not using the width, and LD was not using it either. If that is the case, then I am not sure what you would use Beas for in that position. He is not a possession type player. Might as well call up Mulrooney, Zavagnin, Beckerman and a few other possession midfield players. And if that is the case, then what is it that we are trying to acheive.

I was sort of disappointed with the way the team played after that game. We should have used that game as a way of executing our plays, and working the ball around more. We did not look like a powerhouse team by any means (other than the score), and I think my Sunday Plonker league all star team (if there was one) could have been a better opponent. I would have liked to see more taking players on (ala Freddy), crisper passes, etc...

I do not think the score was at indicative of the US team in as much as it was of the Barbados team. I sort of felt bad for the Barbados keeper. He was sitting down for an extended period of time after some of the later goals.

The other thing I thought was a bummer was that we fielded a fairly top level team for this game, and we could only muster 11,500 fans. I am not sure how much the Father's Day thing or the Laker game factored into the deal, but looking at all the empty seats was a little embarrassing.

It was a bummer about the crowd. It should have been scheduled for Utah or Kansas City or Columbus -- someplace that would have welcomed an international. LA and Houston are going to get their biggest crowds for USMNT "away" matches v. Mexico.

Bob Bradley has released 10 players for the away leg against Barbados and will be adding more.

    From DuNord:

The following players will NOT be joining the team in Barbados this weekend:

    Steve Cherundolo
    Brian Ching
    Clint Dempsey
    Landon Donovan
    Maurice Edu
    Brad Guzan
    Frankie Hejduk
    Sacha Kljestan
    Pablo Mastroeni
    Matt Reis

So if I did my maths correctly, here is who is left:
    G:
    Dominic Cervi
    Tim Howard
    D
    Carlos Bocanegra
    Dan Califf
    Jay DeMerit
    Oguchi Onyewu
    Heath Pearce
    M:
    Freddy Adu
    DaMarcus Beasley
    Michael Bradley
    Eddie Lewis
    F:
    Eddie Johnson

    So who gets added?

Expect a full roster announcement with replacements any day now.

Just a guess but I am thinking EJ is going to play more than 10 minutes in this one. I also would not be surprised if Robbie Rogers and Brek Shea got call ups for this game.

I guess Guzan was released out of respect for MLS, but I hate to see him NOT get another cap. He looks ready for the EPL right NOW.

Seitz will get the start and Szetala (sp?) has been called up.

I doubt if any additional MLSers will be called up for this game; at least, not any starters.

Could you imagine the conversation between Bob and their coach.
"Hey Fred, I need to call up [xxxx] for the game in Barbados"
"We have a game that weekend, are you kidding me?"
"I had to send ten players home, so I need him."
"You've got to be kidding me. You're up 8-0; you can pull a couple of guys off the streets of Miami and not give up 8 goals. My player is staying right where he is."
