Watched the first half and a bit of the second. The play was not as impresssive as I was expecting, although it improved after the first 15 min. Interesting that the Mcguire Cup is the oldest award in all of USA youth sports.

Congrats to the Crew Juniors and Ohio - South

Thanks, Mo. On behalf of OH-S, as a former dues paying member, I accept your congrats!

You who watched the game probably heard there are 55 state orgs in USYSA, There's been a north and south org in Ohio since as long as I recall and that was early eighties.

When you draw a line of club and HS soccer in Ohio, there's a vast wasteland 20 miles N of I-70 from Dayton to Cols, then due South to the River. That is the heart of Ohio South... Really it's OH-SW and including Columbus.
You have to drive a long way to get to Oh-N country.

The village I live in, Enon, was the NE fringe of OH-S, Dayton zone in the 70/80 period - we took in all the young ones from Springfield and North and East. and you had to get pretty close to Cols to find competition.

In a town of population 5000 we often had 5 - 8 simultaneous games going on in three different locations. Even had multiple teams in some younger select groups and that's not counting SAY.

That said .. there's always been contention about 'recruiting' in the higher skill clubs and as the Crew Jrs are the first MLS Academy team to win the National, I expect that to be renewed.
I understand those who think it might not be fair. Not sure myself.
Then Mo said, there was not much skill displayed in the midfield last night. I would have expected better myself. But I wasnt sure because I'd just watched the Crew school Houston on those basics.
