1. The idea of the World Cup is NOT to blood future stars, The WCQ, Confed's Cup, and friendlies are for that, it's to WIN.

2. One would hope it would never be necessary but how the hell do you know what is going to happen to the starters?

- I really dislike playing devil's advocate on this but that is just silly. If Bradley would take someone who he's not gonna play under any circumstance, he SHOULD be fired.
- And I'm gonna point it out again... if you WERE gonna play like a 3-5-2, one way of doing that would be to put Frankie at RB in the 4-4-2

 

Dont misunderstand what I am saying.

Frankie is not good enough to play a starting role, or even 1 or 2 off the bench. Maybe 3... He is not going to help us win.

You are talking about some major 'What if's.' We would have to be pretty desperate to think he should fill a starting role.

I am not saying he should take someone that cannot play, I am saying - if you are going to fill a roster spot with someone who it is VERY unlikely will play... Bring younger talent.

It would be a push talent wise to have a younger guy vs. Frankie anyway.

I know you like him - but he is past it man... He cant run like he used to in an effort to fix all the mistakes he makes by going in so headstrong on everything.

Its long been time to move on and look to the future.

 

He has had some great performances - I am not trying to spit on his legacy... But it is time.

Okay.. I'm done... you're in self-justification mode now. Using all the old saws. And I'll nail those down for you: Too old, not good enough when he was younger.. both of which I addressed.

He aint gonna be picked so it's moot in reality. Your arguments AGAINST, though, raise my eyebrows because they are general in scope and you still lay too heavily on the 'youth need experience' trope.

Really - I dont care if they put him on the plane. I would not for the reasons shared, but that doesnt mean it is right...

As of this moment - I am worried about Mexico and even a little green because they have a crop of young players coming up that are pretty damn exciting (admittedly - not in the defense and they still have kept the fat bastard around).

Anyway - Anyone have any clue how Gooch is going to get any minutes before the WC? Is there anything in the works? I have not heard a thing.

I thought it was looking good for Gooch since Nesta is out for the rest of the season, but as of last week Gooch was still not training with the team on the pitch - only strength and conditioning workouts.
