Lichaj is Polish........surely that's close enough?

I've got the DVR set (the only good thing Comcast has ever done is add the US Al-jazeera soccer channel - calling it that instead of beIN makes it seem even worse though.....)
However, the family is taking me out for my B-Day dinner, so I'll watch the game with a couple beers after the kids are in bed. Thoughts/review might be slightly slurred....be warned.
Of course Klinsi will play Beckerman - how could he not play the white Bob Marley against Jamaica? Here's hoping Beckerman waits til AFTER the game to try the local fare.....

    line up:
    Howard
    Parkhurst, Goodson, Cameron, Johnson;
    Jones, Beckerman, Edu,
    Dempsey; Altidore, Gomez

meh not bad given who is available. Not crazy about Parkhurst in there at RB. That really does make it look silly not calling Lichaj

This roster is pretty bad. I don't know how much I can blame Klinsmann when you have to trot out that back four and that midfield. Let's all be honest, we aren't as good as we were under Arena and Bradley and will struggle to qualify for the World Cup unless the younger players hit their potential.

That was brutal. We came out in a 4-1-2-1-2 with Jones, Beckerman & Edu in the central midfield, Dempsey at CAM and Altidore & Gomez at striker. The match started well with Dempsey scoring the first goal 30 seconds in and setting a US WCQ fastest goal record in the process. But it was all downhill from there. Our midfield three was 90% of useless as they couldn't win the ball and couldn't maintain possession when we had it. We got the typical CONCACAF ref treatment on the road and Jamaica won 2-1.

Jamaica's goals both came off of freekicks. The first one was deflected in the other direction when Beckerman opened his legs like Lindsay Lohan at an LA club. Not sure what happened on the second one...the feed was poor and replays were sparce. Beyond that, the team as a whole looked gassed fairly early on, we had zero creativity beyond Dempsey (who appeared to be fairly gassed late in the first half...surprise) and poor touches/stupid decisions resulted in us giving Jamaica the ball back after most of our possessions.

For those of you who missed it, you're lucky. Terrible performance and our tactics/strategy seemed poor for what Jamaica were throwing at us. Might have helped if the ref was worth a piss, but that's CONCACAF.

Totally outclassed by a small island nation. Thank you Jurgen Klinsmann for all your wisdom.

Really not in the mood to say much else

Yikes, was disappointed I didnt get to watch but sounds like it was for the best.

I'm still excited to see them play on Tuesday but a little more nervous about it now.

Guatemala/Antigua and Barbuda are currently tied 1-1 in the 60th minute. That would be a good result given tonight's result.

And I hate myself for even typing that.

I think the second one was just a rocket and well placed. It also looked like the wall did not jump since they jumped on the first once, which led to Beckerman deflecting it.

But both of the free kicks were setup from dumb fouls from about 25 yards out.

Ag's Lohan comparison is spot on - trainwreck coupled with cocaine blues. Coaching and players failed - missed key players but that's why coaching earns their keep. They didn't today.

Free kick goals suck - deflection and near post past Howard? Oy!

Muy malo - I reserve scathing meltdowns until after Tues.

Had to drag my city into it, huh?

In any event, managed to see the last 30 minutes. Raced to the closest sports bar after work to make that happen. The second goal was a very well taken free kick. It did beat Howard at the near post, but went in off the inside of the woodwork, so not much you can do about that.

The lack of skill at the center of the park was glaring (sounds familiar). People have mentioned that we were missing Donovan and that our back line was a mess, but I think the key man we were missing was Michael Bradley. Errant passes, dribbling straight into the defense. That's just not going to cut it.

I suppose the good news is I can't see us playing much worse than that. Hopefully we got it out of our system now while we still have time to recover.
