Which begs the question...who IS of international quality...outside of the obvious (Dempsey, Donovan, Howard, Bradley, etc.).

Well Comcast added beinsport in my area; however, its the espanol version which is not airing the US match live tonight. Maybe I'll find a live stream for the match. Anyone up for the chat room?

EJ is nowhere near the quality of Boyd, I'd argue. I'd rather have Boyd over Cooper as well. Case could be made for Wondo, though I'm glad Herc seems to be a steady fixture now - was overlooked by Klinsmann for too long.

Sean Johnson shouldn't be in the mix. Speaking of, where is Mixx? With Stu (continually) out, Mixx should get a look.

Lichaj over Johnny Specs would make sense.

Haven't seen Danny Williams do much (anything, rather) in the US shirt - though he's generally played out wide by Klinsmann, and from what I understand - he's a holding CM type at his club. Wonder if he or Beckerman slots in for Bradley? I'd like to see Torres next to Jones in the middle, with Torres playing more of a Scholes/Pirlo deep role and Jones destroying in front of him. (Don't see that happening on the road in Jamaica though...)

Here is Klinsmann's way of backtracking on the "gotta be getting PT at your club" stance.....

Shiner, look at the last yanks abroad thread. Barry posted Mixx's great volley in Europa action for Rosenborg. I don't have a problem w/Boyd since as soon as he came on at Azteca, his energy lifted the side (add the great back heel, and there you go). Lichaj not being called is a head scratcher. Wondo has played his way into another opportunity, but has looked so out of depth when given a run out, that he might be not get one.

I know he looked bad against Italy, but he was playing way out position, and that's Sacha. His manager at Anderlecht, should be applauded, because every highlight you see is him scoring or setting someone else with a great pass.

Was Lichaj injured or something? He didn't play at all in Villa's first match and looked like he came on as a sub in their second game around 60 minutes. And played his first full match last week. Hmm.

yeah some interesting stuff in there: 1) another U20 American player alerted Rongen about Boyd, 2) "I think we already thought that we were qualified when we started it," he said of the qualifying tournament.

While we all probably suspected #2, it is so regrettable. Seems like such an easy pitfall to avoid. Also I just dont see how you can abandon your kid. His parents were married, moved to the US and everything. Then a divorce and you're out of your kids life forever.

So, the band is rehearsing tonight and I'll miss the chatroom. And, since it's only on satellite, I won't be able to DVR it. If anybody has access to the channel that's broadcasting this match, could they do a good review? I'd appreciate it.

Mo, overconfidence is something that is human nature and really hard to avoid. I'm sure Porter told the squad until he was blue in the face that each opponent was to be respected, but young people will lose that edge and once they get into a real game, they can panic and unravel.

I fall into the Hatter category of not being home, and not having beIN (damn, that network name/spelling is beyond laME), so a review would be cool.

As for the match. I have no idea what JK is thinking about when it comes to the starting lineup, just hoping it doesn't include 3 defensive mids.

I can do a reveiw, but one way or another, it wont be good so you need a Heather, Ag, Barry type on that front.

    I think Klinsmann should opt for a 4 - 4 - 2 but I dont think he will. So in a 4 - 3 -3 here is my lineup:

    --------Howard
    'dolo---Goodsen---Boca---Johnson
    ---Jones---Edu---Torres
    Gomez--Jozy--Shea

Joe that's two defensive mids, I believe, hope that's okay. I have a feeling though that Beckerman will be in the starting lineup. Bring on Dempsey at the half. I usually want to see Johnny Specs in there but he is too slow for the likes of Mattacks, Richards and Co.

I think it's just the case of another new manager and Lichaj having to prove himself to him. Have not heard anything about an injury.

I think should be able to find a live feed of it somewhere to give my brief thoughts on the game. If not, I doubt I'll make it to the chat.

It's the same problem he had with Whitbread last season: Neither of them speaks German.
