It's 6:30 on the left coast and the alert on the ticker on Sportscenter is a possible weather delay. Decision to be made at 8 AM PST

As for the match: Expecting Chandler to start, Mixx to finally get some minutes if we need a goal (he's been a victim of the trio of JJ, Bradley, Beckerman's effectiveness), and if the time is right the kid Green to get a run out.

:banana-linedance: Was in my wife's classroom watching a univision stream and for 15 minutes when the only thing I knew from the Portugal-Ghana game was the 1-1 score I was wondering if getting out of the group wasn't meant to be, but pretty boy helped us (only fair after his cross on Sunday) out, and we have survived. Not a whole lot of positives from the match other than the boys defended their hearts out on tired legs, and Omar Gonzales with a confidence boosting performance.

Didn't see the first half, joined in progress just before their goal. I DVR'ed it and will watch the rest of it when I get home, but If you would have told me we would advance through the "Group of Death" with Jozy only playing 23 minutes of the first half of the first game and somebody impersonating Michael Bradley in our #4 kit, I would have questioned your sanity.

Bottom line: We are through to the knockout stage! Well done lads! You've done well!
Now it's time to show the world how far we've really come.
    BELGIAN WAFFLES ON TUESDAY!

I'll take an egg over easy, on the side, with my waffles...no bacon, no sausage, but lots, and lots of maple syrup. Because that's what the Belgians will need to get that bitter taste out of their mouth on Tuesday! Ahhhh, yeah!*

*and while my family, neighbors and all of you should be happy, I'm disappointed to not run naked after a 3-0 victory against Germany.

Putting aside the joyful optimism for the moment, I found this reply to a pre-match column by the St. Louis Post Dispatch's Bernie Miklasz to be somewhat insightful. It struck me as a reasonably accurate, concise summation by someone who knows what they're talking about. I hope for our sake he's wrong about one thing, by inference.....that the talent gap is still too wide to overcome, at least in this World Cup.

"This game looked just like the early select games that I refereed with a dominant team trying to score while the other team had every player in the box. The US is sadly lacking in individual tactical ability and as the saying goes, they play to get in the way."

An oversimplification perhaps, but I think we'll bounce back big with the fresh start against de Rode Duivels. I'm kind of glad we're playing them instead of Algeria. I know Belgium are supposed to be much better than the Africans, but I'm sure they were salivating at the chance to get even for Landon's miracle goal four years ago. Here's hoping that we play more like we did against Ghana and, for 94:30, against Portugal, that Jozy makes a miraculous recovery, and that Michael Bradley gets his head out of his arse.
