The TV announcer originally said the line judge raised the flag for offside but I have heard otherwise today. Apparently the lino pointed to give the goal kick and not to indicare offside.

Oh man, SCJ, I know exactly what you reference and I was screaming for him to shoot - what the hell happened?

Yedlin was clearly offside, Wondo was not. The fact that he flubbed the shot makes the referee's impending call a moot point.

It was a tough loss. I can second guess a number of things all day long. The bottom line though is, despite the comparison to 1994 (http://www.mlssoccer.com/worldcup/2014/ ... ir-analyst), it certainly looks like the future is bright.

One thing you can't compare with 1994 -- or even 2002. I believe that even without Altidore and even with Bradley only showing up for about 60 minutes the entire competition, this is the best USMNT side ever in the World Cup. The TEAM played well, and I believe that there was not an XI in Brazil that could run us off the park. That hasn't been true in any of the other WC's I've seen.

Since I just became a soccer nut since the last World Cup, it's hard to explain just how I feel about our efforts. On the one hand, I agree that the sport is on the rise in our country, and that this is the best WC side we've ever assembled. And we advanced from the "Group of Death."
On the other hand, we were dominated by the Belgians and Germans. It was obvious to even the most casual fan. And in the end, the results were the same, survived the group stage, went out immediately in the knockout stage.
Don't get me wrong, I think we're making progress. It just seems that it's going to take a lot longer than any of us want it to.
    Patience, son, patience.
Still positive about our overall effort, and this group may go down in history as the team that ignited the footy fire for good in America.
And the tournament itself has been pretty darn entertaining, which will help even more.
It's going to be an interesting four years until Russia.
