The da Vinci/Verne/Heinlein/Clarke paradigm

    Of course, that has to be qualified... unstated is the caveat "within the bounds of common sense".

    Here's an example of one 'future engineer' who imagined and described but didnt consider the caveat:
    Increase efficiency of rotating shaft.

    He musta missed the day they went over 'conservation of energy'. Or he should get into some other line of work.. because, kids, there is NOTHING more efficient than a rotating shaft.

    - Before you reply, many actual applications of rotating shafts dont involve bearings. And there's no such thing as 101% efficient
