I was a big fan of the Digable Planets. I was surprised to see them in the Lollapalooza lineup this summer. As that event is here in Chicago, it is gonna be cool to see the Digables Live.

I also liked Wu Tang Clan and Public Enemy.

Wow.... this is a large area to cover.

Early '90's would have to be Public Enemy, based on their spin on the genre alone. Also NWA because of what they did.

Remember the Ghetto boyz? With the midget?

The mid 90s has to be dominated by WuTang, not many could argue otherwise. I suppose TuPac should be in there, but I see him as a racist for some reason.

I like the Fugees in the Mid 90's, that was good stuff.

    All I can say is:

All right stop, collaborate and listen
Ice is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Then I flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop? yo -- I don?t know
Turn off the lights and I?ll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal

Public Enemy is numero uno without a doubt.

You also have to love the Geto Boys and I'm completely shocked no one has named two of my favorites in LL Cool J and Ice Cube both solo and with NWA.
The sort of rap group House of Pain are cool too.

Another couple of my favorites are Tupac and Biggie.

I love Nina Gordon's version of NWA's straight out of Compton

You can download it right here for free off of Nina's site.
