Only because of weather.. Because if Selfridge and Orville hadnt crashed killing Selfridge, 18 mos earlier, that would have been right here in Dayton, 10 miles from me.

In fact.. the first successful flight by a military pilot in a military plane. Takeoff-flight-landing.
Though he apparently made his first crash, later in the day.
Foulois' subsequent exploits and achievements were far more notable, however.
He added the seat belt and replaced skids with wheels.. that last is odd because you'd think bicycle mechanics would have thought of that. Wheels wouldnt suit Huffman Prairie and Orville had probably visualized crash actions and jumped clear in his crashes.

Now that is an interesting bit of revisionist history. You shouldn't have to resort to bad fiction to take the piss outta Perry, he's a pretty easy target on his own.

That's why I didnt touch it.. though I DO think I'll do a bit on Seward's folly and how we screwed those poor Russians out of the Pac NW and Alaska.
Actually, the problem with Texas was it was lead by a Freemason.. and you know about those guys, right?

And, of course, so was Sam Houston..besides Houston was a slave ownin' Injun hatin' Ra-a-a-acist! Right Don?

Never mind Texas was largely settled by land poor southerners, it's the MEME that counts.

If Obama hadn't of sucked it up his first year, Bill White could win. That's who I'm supporting. He's a fiscal conservative Democrat and a good guy. Perry is too much of a blowhard for my tastes.

Nope, had nothing to do with creating a military dictatorship under Santa Anna. Or the right to bear arms. Or the right to a trial by jury. Or freedom of religion, among other things. It was all about owning some slaves.

What am I wrong about Don. I'm not saying Texas didnt continue to be a slave state. I'm saying that wasnt the prime impetus of Texas Independence.

YOU are wrong, except for your agenda.
which I suspect is following the tone of:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of ... y_in_Texas

If you read that, you would be SURE that's all it was about. But go back and read Sam Houston's wiki.

So were every signer of the Declaration of Independence, save one...

So were the instigators of the Boston Tea Party

So were all but a couple of our Presidents

    ...I can go on ;-)
