Looks like Klinsmann is tempting Julian Green with a seat on the plane to Brazil.

Green has a lot of promise and I'd love to see him in the red, white, and blue (er, all white), but I'd be a little upset if he got a seat without ever having played with the US. Though technically he would only make the 30-man roster prior to playing since the 30-man roster is due May 12. He would potentially get two of the send-off games under his belt before the final 23-man roster is announced on June 2.

I think Rob Findley* making the trip to South Africa would still be more shocking than Green to Brazil.

*ok, he had some appearances for the team before the WC selection, but still it was still surprising Bob picked him.

Green has made it official. http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1755661?cc=5901

He filed his paperwork to switch to the USA. The article says that the paperwork may or may not go through in time to make him eligible for the Mexico match April 2. I'm very excited to see what he can do.... but he still has to prove himself worthy of a seat on the plane.

FIFA has approved Green's paperwork and is eligible immediately to play for the US.

I'd say there's a good chance that Klinsmann throws Green out there to face Mexico then.

One more reason to stay up late and watch the match.

ProSoccerTalk lists their US World Cup roster outlook with two months to go.

I'm not sure that Parkhurst and Beckerman are locks, but I wouldn't be surprised either way with those two.

At this moment, I'd leave EJ home and take Wondo. EJ has a knack for scoring goals off the bench, but Wondo is looking very good these days. I'm also curious to see Johannsson play a full match. I think I've only seen him as a late sub.

At this point, the big surprise might be Gonzalez not getting a seat on the plane. Though recent form makes that less surprising to think about.

I must say that I haven't had more than a dim glimmer of what the fuss is all about with Gonzalez. I've watched him in almost every USA match and this and part of last season with LA and he seems kind of ... ordinary. I don't mind him going, but I'm VERY worried if he's our first choice.
