Josh, I think we're not as thin at CB as we appear. Andreassen has played there, as has Smertin, Paintsil, Baird, and Kallio. I think we'll probably continue to see Hangeland/Hughes as the #1 pairing.

As for forward, you're right about McBride. Dumbshit built everything on having a big, dominant stud to knock down for the speed-demons, then traded Macca's only backup in that role -- Helgusson. Once McHero went down, there was no longer ANY chance of Sanchez's attack working.

I don't think we can consider EJ a failure. Remember that Dempsey hardly got a look in under CC or Sanchez. Liverpool was, if I remember correctly, his first start. EJ featured under Woy in various positions. All part of helping him figure out his squad. I'm thinking he'll be second in the depth chart to either Zamora or Kamara. Remember also that Zamora is basically a left-footed striker. This increases the opportunities of guys like Johnson, Nevland, and Dempsey -- who favor the right foot -- to be supporting strikers. I also don't think we've seen the end of Healy, but what do I know?

I'm just thrilled to see match details adjacent to the Hull City shield in the left column. I'm ready for GJ on the 16th.

Actually, I always replace Christ with Obama. I will continue to do so too. This wasn't some crap to get everybody pissed off. It was simply a joke that will continue.

Your continuation of a joke that wasn't even really funny when it was new is not surprising. And FYI it's not making anybody laugh, it really is just pissing people off at this point. But, you know, feel free to keep repeating it. The more times you repeat a one-liner, the funnier it gets, right?

Don, I didn't say Johnson was a failure, I just said he didn't accomplish much of anything in that first half-season. I'm not at all giving up on him yet. For what it's worth, in the game of WSM08 I'm currently playing, he got picked up by Middlesbrough and scored 9 goals in 2007-08, 18 goals in 2008-09. Obviously just a video game, but that means someone who's an objective evaluator thought he had potential.

Apparently we might still be courting Alexander Madlung... who's a German version of Hangeland. A David Wheater or Robert Huth kind of centre back. He was mentioned in the thread a while back.

It would be great to get another CB, as has been mentioned quite a few times we are a little thin there and another body would be good.

Not rambling at all - I think it is an excelent way to show the changes and agree with almost all of what has been said. I would add that Omozusi is on loan and can be recalled. I would be happy to see him come back. Volz is still about and while he may not be the greatest I would still love to see him in any Fulham colours.

I love that type. Wheater schooled us seriously last season. Madlung might be what we need to counter Pompey's Mad Stork.

This one hasn't been released by the club yet, so probably still just gossip.

Good to have Zuberbuhler in the fold. Added depth at GK is never a bad thing.

I hate the Sun. But I have found a similar article, different figure and terms.

Andrew Johnson set to join Fulham from Everton

Sky TV news reports that F5 (nice nickname, was that sublicon?), along with Roy, are at the training ground right now completing the deal. Sky claimed that, despite Fulham's squad having the day off, Roy wanted to be present at the training ground to wrap this thing up.

Because it's on tv, it has to be true...right?

F5 actually started on the TIFF board and it kinda just took off from there. A great 'nickname' and I'm sure you'll find it on some kits in the very near future.
