Ah, you mustn't forget the great Steve Marlet! I think they actually meant £15m for Gomez...so 15+12+6 = £33m total. Not the best-worded article I've seen.
That's what I love about it. We know the guy can score - I don't put much stock into a small 3-game sample. If he would have had a great tournament, he would have pushed his value well over £20m. So £15m for such a talented young player is a relative bargain. He's probably as good as Robbie Keane (or at least very close), and 6 years younger.

You're right Rich. My apologies. I should have read the article with greater attention.

15 million for Gomez... I would accept that or Kuranyi wouldn't be bad, but that won't happen anytime soon. Doubt it will happen and if it came down to a choice of AJ or Gomez. Gomez without question.

Premiership survival: £35 million or so.

Zamora, Stoor, Johnson, Gomez: £35 million or so.

A Chairman who puts the windfall back into his club? Priceless.

I would be shocked if Hodgson were allowed to bring Gomez to SW6. With or without him, I've been pleased with the talent brought into Fulham.

If Fulham pulled Mario Gomez in, the team could do some things. I'd revise my 13th place prediction, and I'd even move 'the won't finish higher than 11th' prediction up a few places.

It's fun Fulham and Mario Gomez are even mentioned in the same breath. Maybe Michael Ballack and Gomez are lovers, and Ballack wants him as close as he can be... i jest, i jest.

If Gomez comes to Fulham, I'm not sure I'll ever understand why. It doesn't add it up. Would be cool though.

Gomez was German Footballer of the Year in 2007. Yes, he did not do well in Euro 2008 but he scored 19 goals last year in 25 games in a darned good league.

It's been awhile since we've even been linked with anybody who was Footballer of the Year in any country. Even if doesn't work out, him, AJ, and Zammy are not the Championship players we went for last year. This is a club with ambition!

That would give us so many options up front. We would be a very fun team to watch. Since all the teams that stayed up got that money this year. I believe it is the new tv contract taking affect, at least I thought I heard that. MAF has more money than normal to play with. I'll hold my excitement until I see it, but I am really getting even more excited than I already was. We will have unlimited combinations to put on the pitch. Maybe Roy will take a page from Liverpool and adopt the rotation policy. lol.

I am happy about the AJ signing, like most people I think we overpaid but he is a proven goal scorer. I have much more confidence in aj than healy or kamara.

If the Sun is the only paper reporting such a link then it must just a rumor unfortunately.

I mentioned it on TIFF, but the last time the offal announced a transfer before it was completed was Marlon King. I wonder if the AJ deal hit a snag, and we were simultaneously working on a deal for Gomez (with the intention of purchasing only one)? Lots of 2+2=5 here, I know, but I'm rather excited about all of this. Where's FFC24 now that we start to show some ambition? Maybe MAF hired him as a special consultant.

Also, GBLB on TIFF has suggested that we're close to signing a "world-class" CB from Inter or AC Milan. Some clues from other posters (who he's shared the name with) suggest that it may be Ivan Cordoba. GBLB is usually knowledgable about Balkan players, which would make me think he's talking about someone else.

bostoncottage... decent read, but have to disagree with the point that Johnson must play. He is probably on the bottom of the depth chart, in my opinion, of attacking options.

Rich... How I would love for Fulham to pass up on AJ and surprise everyone with the Gomez signing. That would be an amazing turnaround. Am I the only one that thinks Kenny Cooper would be a fantastic subsitute for McBride. He has size, good control, strength, quality in the air and he won't be nearly as expensive as other options. I would not view him as a bargain buy, but a quality buy at a minimal price.

No, the last time it announced that a player was undergoing a medical was Marlon King. Then everyone assumed that it was a done deal, even though obviously there had been medical issues with King that needed to be looked at. This is the same thing. Johnson is a done deal when the club announces it's a done deal, not before.

I've been saying for a while that I think Cooper has the size to develop into a McBride-type player for the USMNT, but he's not there yet. Those who've seen him play more often than I have say that that's not the style he tries to play, and he'd have to want to play the McBride role in order to eventually become good at it.

Cooper is NOT a back-to-the-goal holding/layoff centre forward, although he's built like one. Think of him more as a tall Malcolm MacDonald. Well, the old Brits will know what I mean.

It's true that Cooper is not a back to goal/holding forward, but it doesn't mean that he couldn't adapt his style of play. He could be the total package really. He doesn't need to have a singular role in order to be successful. I think the greater scope of his abilities the better.

Just a thought though. Dallas has already turned down Rosenborg and Cardiff so they won't let him go easily.

Huh? I must have missed something. If MLS agreed the fee, FCD doesn't have a choice, do they?

If we sign Gomez, top 7 is guaranteed. That frontline of Gomez and Johnson is better than any frontline outside the top 4.
