I feel good with Roy at the helm. It would be awesome to have someone of similar quality for a NT coach...but I'm not sure that can happen until the USSF changes its attitude.

Bob Bradley is doing just fine. Roy Hodgson can't turn water into wine either.

True, and I have no major complaints about the US MNT's performances since Bradley took over, but dear Roy would still do better.

Maybe. I don't think the U.S. can really do much better than it is doing... not until it starts producing way better players anyway. The next challenge for the U.S. is to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup and England can't even accomplish that.

I am officially calling for a 4-3-3 lineup with Zamora, Nevland and AJ up front!

The guy who suffers the most with the addition of AJ is Healy. Like the Irishman, Johnson is small, pacey, and likes to spend a lot of time out on the wings. If we've got him, then I think that the only time we'll see a Zamora/Healy partnership will be during the dozen or so matches AJ is injured. AJ isn't the 1 in the 4-5-1. And I'm not sure where Nevland figures in all this, but he's more of an AJ type than a Zamora type.

Given that everyone suffers temporary losses of form, this might be the pecking order.

    In a 4-5-1 -- 1. Zamora 2. EJ
    In a 4-4-2 -- 1. Zamora & AJ. 2. Zamora & Nevland 3. EJ and AJ 4. Zamora and Healy 5. EJ & Nevland 6. EJ and Healy

That's if Roy doesn't decide to make either Gera or Dempsey a striker. In any case, I'm even more ready for Hull City v. FFC [R]

If and when Andy Johnson is confirmed I think the pecking order for playing time will be Zamora and AJ then Nevland then EJ. I said last season I did not think Healy would feature in Hodgson's plans and if AJ is added I cannot see Healy getting any regular playing time outside of some cup games. I don't know the extent of Kamara's knee injury but since much of his game is based on pace I don't see him coming back to contribute the way McBride did last season. I do hope I am wrong of course.

Has anyone heard anything about Collins John?

Yeah, I'm also having trouble deciding where AJ fits into the lineup. We have lots of talented midfielders, and I would think we would want as many of them as possible playing at once (suggesting some form of 4-5-1). AJ is definitely not a lone striker, so if he and Zamora are first choice, it would have to be a 4-4-2. Or do we see AJ as more of a winger, or a combination of the two (sort of like Boa/Steed)?

I think I'm ok with having AJ in the squad, though I still don't think it's a good signing from a business standpoint. His real value is probably at most half what we're being quoted - he is vastly overrated due to his English international-ness and his fraudulent 20 goal seasons.

I still think we should send EJ out on loan. I think he would do well with a season or half of one in the CCC to get adjusted and build his esteem. I'd be rather displeased to see him waste on the reserves/bench all season and not get any real time. That would do him nothing, and we may need him in 2010.

We may need to keep EJ around, just because if Zamora goes down we don't have any other big forwards. Or maybe we could pick up Helguson.

What's the confidence level on AJ and Zamora staying healthy? From what I've read so far, my impression is that it's not high. May be why you're not seeing a loan move with EJ.

    I think it's a terrible signing, but I hope I'm wrong.

Something told me I should add "P.S. JOSH! SHUT UP!" to my post, but I thought I'd give you the benefit of the doubt. I now see the error of my ways and will remember for the future.
