Not quite yet. He is going to play for Rosenborg in the Intertoto Cup this weekend. This is the reason for the delay. He will be signed, sealed and delivered early next week.

A.J. rumors aside, I am glad that the needs in the backline have been addressed.

Last year's defensive line looked pourous and lacked depth.

Is the Simunic (SP?) all but dead and buried?

Latest rumor about Simunic was that we were balking at the transfer fee Hertha was asking for, and that was over three weeks ago. Seems like it's off. If that's the case, I'm even more concerned about the lack of depth at center back than I was last year.

That's probably why Andreasen was playing CB the other day

Let's keep it going, lads, we're nearly at 1000 posts in this thread!

I'm on the fence about Andy Johnson. I don't think he dives as much as people say and he is a pacy forward whose energy can invigorate a side. But he's not quite at the level where he'll step in and dominate. And I think the 10 mil or so that Everton want for him is too much. We still need a few defenders yet. However, if we were full up on personell, with adequate back-ups at all positions, I'd say go for it. We could do to drop a big sum on a bigger name player. If we don't take risks like that, we'll never get out of the bottom quarter of the league.

Anyone else feel a difference from last summer? I mean that all these signings have been kind of low key, like they were well thought out and planned. Not like last summer where we basically signed everyone on two different days at the last hour.

I'm feeling good about these signings so far, but that is because I have quite a bit of faith in Ol' Roy. I'd be happy with a 10-13th place finish this season.

I definitely feel better than last summer for FFC. Being in a situation like Portsmouth in a few years is a reachable goal. I'll take anything better than 12th this year as a success.

And another relegation battle as a sign that I did something awful in a past life.
