    i'm skeptical about this.

on another issue, dempsey should still figure in woy's plans because, as far as i know, we don't have anyone on the left wing besides bouazza (and he's being sold, right?) and lee cook (who doesn't exist).

although its not his natural position, i want dempsey on that side of midfield.

Everybody's posts above illustrate the gut-wrenching decision involved when it comes to the Jimmy issue. Where's King Solomon when you need him?

I'd be gutted if he left, but 6 million immediately re-invested in the club would keep building Roy's platform for the future. On the other hand, while there are statistically better players than Bullard, his most valued assets cannot be measured by stats and would FFC be able to replace his charisma?

    I'm flummoxed at this point.

I can't see Bullard going back to Wigan when the main reason he left in the first place was so he could live in London.

Yeah, it's probably all horse$hit anyway, but it made my morning rather interesting (as compared to work).

If we play a four man midfield there will be a great deal of competition for the four spots. I would guess that Jimmy and Simon would be regulars with Andreasen or Andranik featuring as a defensive mid. That leaves Clint, Danny and Zoltan fighting it out for the final spot with Cook and Davis on the outside looking in. If Demps wants regular first team football as a starter he is going to have to really pick up his level of play this season.

If we play a five man midfield I would guess that Demps would feature on the left and Simon on the right with Jimmy and Gera in the middle and a defensive mid in support.

If Nevland keeps showing good form this season Hodgson will have a tough decision to make regarding formation.

This isn't true. Some owners don't like taking risks period. I think Mo is still in shock when Tigana was spending like crazy and not getting this team anywhere. As a supporter people should be begging the owner to spend as much as he can and take the risks. If you don't like the way the club is run, you bitch about it and make your case heard. That's the way it goes all throughout Europe and that's the kind of attitude I take.

No, I don't post anywhere else.

On top of charisma and intangibles, 4 goals in 21 matches is a pretty decent strike rate for a midfielder. Even if you discount the one that was a penalty, 1 per 7 is about the same as what Simon Davies has done.

2 million pounds for Stoor seems pretty reasonable.

All the clubs with your attitude are in administration or in a lower league. Fulham would be in the Blue Square league if you were charge.

What's horrible about your attitude is that Fulham isn't going to do what it is you want and so you're just going to be forever pissed off at Fulham because of it. That's sad.

Fulham is a small club, with little hope for great success... I say embrace it.

... and maybe you do love Fulham, but so much so you'd kill it. don't be that dude. it's not healthy.

Leeds, Gretna, and Bradford City weren't better off for taking risks with the transfer budget and the payroll.

The risk of Ridsdale/Richmond-style activity isn't worth the possible reward for Fulham.

Bouazza is staying. Hodgson/Fulham have rejected all offers for him.

    On Jimmy...

He's the one pushing the move to Wigan. Probably, imo, to better his wages at Fulham, i.e., he doesn't really want to leave... but he and his agent are probably using the transfer market as leverage to renogiate his current contract.

So if Bullard gets sold, it will be in part, because of Bullard's own actions. He's already under contract and Fulham doesn't have to do anything, but if he wants more money or a longer contract... Fulham may have to sell if it isn't willing to give him what he wants.

6 million for someone of his talent and his age would be a really good deal. Wigan is also desperate to get another CM because they only have 2 at the moment (one being Michael Brown).

If this goes down, Bullard is at least half as guilty as the Board and Hodgson.

Lyle is spot on...Bullard wants a contract extension on one good knee and only a couple dozen or so matches; good negotiating ploy by him, but if it comes time to blink will FFC sell? I love the guy, but I wouldn't cry too many tears if he were to be sold for 6 million. After a day of thinking about the transaction, and with full knowledge that I will be vilified by many, I don't object to selling him for 6mil. But, I would absolutely miss him...and his wink.

FFC can't replace Bullard tit for tat, but it sure as hell could improve the overall squad with that transfer fee.

So, based on what I am reading here, Everton has agreed to sell Johnson to Fulham, Fulham apparently just needs to work out a deal with Johnson. Not done yet but half-way. Not sure about this deal, I always have to defer to Roy. He may just want lots of depth at striker, so if he gets him, he will nave it.

If Johnson signs, will it be Zamora and Johnson in a 2-man front most of the time?

Or Fulham's version of "Total Football." I love the pure 4-3-3 and so few managers have the guile to employ it these days.

Mark me down as skeptical about AJ coming aboard, especially if it is for a double-digit fee. If AJ comes aboard, then I believe EJ becomes loan material...which, overall, may not be a bad thing.

No, just an educated guess. It's how the contract game is played sports, especially now a days in European football.

He's looking out for himself, that's all. Maybe he thinks his knee won't hold up. Trying to get one last good contract.

Wigan are also in desperate need of a central midfielder so they will pay more than they should for whomever.

At the risk of giving away my non-Fulham allegiances, I'd much rather be Barcelona-on-Thames than the Manchester United of the South.

On the other hand, 99 pounds for Andy Johnson sounds like a neat bit of dealing by Roy.

My only fear of Bullard leaving is, despite the fact of Bullard leaving, that the transfer fee will be put towards Andy Johnson.

In which case I will light myself on fire.
