Yep, Chris Baird was quite the debacle at RB. Lawrie Sanchez blew that one.

Rumour is 6M GBP for Zamora.

Rather have Kitson at 3 than Zamora at 6, personally. Maybe Kitson isn't anything special, but neither is Zamora.

anybody got an opinion about Pantsil?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Paintsil

Is he pants? Is he the 532nd right back we've been linked with since May? Are we going to field 11 right backs?

    Inquiring minds

Not sure what to think of Paintsil. He was pretty good for Ghana in the 2006 World Cup, but he never was really given a consistent chance at West Ham. He is only 27 so he still has time to play at his peak. I think if given a consistent run of play he could be a good player.

I don't have any idea about Pantsil, but 6M is too much for Zamora. I'm with JMH, I'd take Kitson at half the price and use the extra cash somewhere else. There's got to be better options out there. Come on Roy...

I agree on 6 million being too much for Zamora. I would have to think hard about paying even 3 million for him.

I hope at least 5 of our Right Backs can play Striker, and that there is an attacking midfielder in the group as well...

In my opinion, I always think people are saying "pencil" when I hear his name. Other than that, no, not really.

Wasn't Paintsil the guy Beasley schooled on the buildup to Clint's World Cup goal?

I agree with those who say £6m is too much, especially with Zamora's fitness concerns. If he's really only a 60 minute player (which a lot of West Ham fans seem to think), no way. He still hasn't shown to be 100% since his knee injury last year, either. We don't want another tease like Claus Jensen.

Zamora is OK, but 6M is easily twice what he's worth. Pantsil was one of the hot commodities after WC2006 but he hasn't done much in the EPL. Maybe Roy sees something there.

I like Zamora and seriously think he can score 15 goals in this league, HOWEVER he is always injured,he is inconsistent,He sometimes goes weeks without even CONTRIBUTING to anything etc etc. What a risk by Hodgson. This is either going to seriously be one of the best moves this club has ever made or one of the worst, even worse than paying the same price for Kamara.

This is from Skysports transfer news section for today. Zamora 'done deal' per their reporting sources. Who knows.

10.30 There are plenty of whispers coming into the office today and it would be rude of us not to share them with you. Gilberto's agent is to arrive in Greece this afternoon to engage in talks with Panathinaikos. Fulham's bid to bring West Ham duo Bobby Zamora and John Pantsil is a done deal according to our sources. Luis Garcia of Espanyol has agreed a switch to Spurs, while Jay Bothroyd could be on his way to Leeds United - if the League One club can match his wage demands.

Buying other Premier League teams' castoffs is... marginally better than buying players from a level down and hoping they can cut it in the Premier League, I guess? Zamora scored just one goal last year but 21 over the two prior seasons. 15 seems overoptimistic even if he does stay healthy.

Anyone know about Darren Huckerby? I guess he is a striker who use to play for Newcastle. He just signed for the Quakes in MLS. Sorry to use this thread for Ins and Outs for San Jose. :)

    Barry, where you been?

If he stays healtyh HUckerby will be a good MLS player. He played most of his career with Norwich and was solid even when in the Prmier League. He is a forward but he plays the position most effectively from the wing moving from left to right. SImilar to the way Thierry Henry plays but not nearly as good.

He is around 30 or maybe a bit older but I always liked him as a player. I think the Earthquakes will be happy with this acquisition.
