If we sign Lewandowski, we're getting rid of Bullard. There is absolutely no reason to sign him otherwise. He's another CM! That would make what? 10? He was voted in Shaktars BEST EVER 11, so he has performed well for them. I'd rather keep Bullard though.

Seriously? Shaktar's best XI ever? I'd never heard of the guy, but it's not exactly as if Shaktar's best ever is menudo (especially in comparrison to Fulham's recent travails) - that's a fine compliment in my book.

Whether good or bad, there's gotta be some fire to the Bullard transfer-rumor smoke - and speaking of smoke, I believe my entire state is on fire at this very moment.

Nevzter, the smoke is thick up here in the Roseville area as well. Fires all over. None too close by thank god.

I re-read what I wrote, and thought I might as well keep that bit in there. Still, he's probably not as polished as this guy:

I haven't heard anything in particular, but I'd be surprised if there weren't a number of clubs looking at him.

The problem with players like Pavlyuchenko and Arshavin and others who have seemingly come out of nowhere to play well is that the whole world is seeing them play. With each good performance, the prices of these players go up and up and up.

In other words, we need to get a hold of these players before they get into the European Championships and show their stuff. We need to be scouting all parts of the Europe and all parts of the world to find hidden gems before they are brought to light as Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko have done in the last two weeks.

The chances of us being able to afford and/or land a key player to one of the European Champioship teams is slim.

he's a young CB with a good rep. He'll not feature in the 1st team squad this season, but hopefully, he'll be one for the future.

    He is a developmental signing.

The club also extended TJ Moncurs contract.

Are we trying to fail? Are we? 11M for Elmander?!?!? This idiot isn't worth 5m. Please let Bolton take him and let him fail there.

Alright, you guys can talk to me about wages at 4m or 6m pound players and stuff, but we're now going after 11M pound players. If we can afford that, we can afford 50K a week. I'd much rather see us going after the good players that cost around 4-7M and cost 50K a week than going after 11M players that will cost a whole 10-15K a week less.

11 million pounds for Elmander seems like an awful lot. I am with FFC24 on thinking this is way too much to spend on this guy. If we are in the running to sign a player that costs that much, I can think of many other players I would rather be after than this guy.

He wasn't "speaking" as the Fulham manager but in his UEFA role. As such, he just spoke about how attractive the attacking football had been in the EuroCup so far and mentioned a couple teams as being especially attractive (Holland, Croatia, Spain, etc.). He was asked about the Dutch defense and basically said it hadn't been tested yet. Nothing in there about him scouting players; in fact no players were named by him.

Take that £11 million and test Benitez on Crouch (That assumes MAF is willing to pay Crouch's wages...)

I think that is too much for him. But I think the man would do a great job for Fulham.

This is definitely true in most cases... except with Russian players these days. One reason a lot of Russian aren't playing outside of Russia is that they are aldready paid handsomely by their Russian clubs. Arshavin, for example, is already on like $60,000 per week wages. So Fulham couldn't ever match what some of the better Russian players are making in the Russian Premier League. Andrei Smertin, I think, might have taken a pay cut just to come back to the EPL.

Elmander is pretty good and could probably displace most of our strikers from the lineup, but 11 million pounds for him is silly. If Roy has that much to spend on a striker, he should be able to do better.

First, don't believe everything you read in the English papers.

Second, I'm not sure Fulham has ever paid a player 50,000 a week, let alone, a bunch of players that much. Maybe if Fulham's budget has dramatically increased it can afford such wage demands... but probably not.

Lastly, players also have to want to come to Fulham even if Fulham can afford them. So European quality players won't come to Fulham when they have a lot of other better teams to choose from.
