There's a blast from the past. First foul ball I ever caught at an MLB game came off his bat. 3rd deck behind home plate, old Memorial Stadium in Baltimore v Oakland, circa '81 or so. Guess I was 10 at the time.

Holy Crap, FulhamAg. I might have been in the ballpark for that one. We have to get a beer and talk about this stuff some time.

No 'one upmanship' intended but Willie McGee, formerly of my beloved Giants and the Cardinals, could be right there with Cliff. :D

RR, they'd be in the top 3, that's for sure.

I have no idea. LorkSwift posted that on the offal message board but I don't know what his source for the info is. Signing him for two years and agreeing to loan him back for one seems a bit odd to me but I am sure stranger things have happened. In fact, I think I remember Don and PF agreeing on a political thread not so long ago.

Perhaps Mike can shed some light on this?

Edited: LorkSwift's Offal post which was taken from TiFF from a poster named Surbiton White.

I think making this post qualifies me to be an English sports journalist.

Thanks BarryP. I saw some chatter on one of the forums with a comment that he would be heading back to Darlo for a season on loan. But judging from the Offal it looks like Fulham intend to keep him around at least initially.

The one thing that jumped out at me from the comments attributed to Roy was:

"David Stockdale is a welcome addition to the squad and I’m delighted that he joins us for the start of pre-season. He is one of a number of highly rated young English goalkeepers and he will continue to develop his skills and realise his full potential at Fulham under the guidance of Mike Kelly and the rest of my coaching staff. We are hopeful of great things from David and I am confident that he will be a valuable asset to the team in the future."

When I read this I was thinking that Roy sees him playing with the reserves with a possible appearance in a cup game or on the subs bench.

Mikey, wasn't it this guy from Long Island who once said that he'd get angry at the next person who posted something from Tribal Football on a transfer thread?

Seriously, I don't think anybody's going anywhere until Roy finished with EURO2008. Stockdale was already locked in before the season ended. He's culled the herd the week after Pompey. I think we're all going to have to wait patiently until July for REAL news.

agree donny. bobby mcmahon said the exact same thing a few weeks ago. and it makes sense because a) the transfer market doesn't open until then and b)the EURO's will dominate the press until then.

    see everyone in July!

And I stick by that Don, it's a f'n awful site that should never be used to reference and I will ban anyone who uses it. Hypocritical? Yes, but that was just a test you see, and you passed. Well done.

Now Bouazza is getting linked to some teams in Spain. Personally, i kind of like the guys potential and think we could unlock a gem with Roy's tutelage. I say keep him if he's willing, but if not, recoup the 3 mil he cost us if unable to get more.

as I've expressed elsewhere, I'm concerned that we're shopping the ONLY left-sided mid/attacker we have. I don't want another season of seeing Davies or Dempsey playing on their weak side.

Technically we do also have Cook.

Not to mention, the rumor of Bouazza moving to Osasuna is really no more solid than the rumors linking us to left-sided players like Hunt and Kewell and Kapo and Bresciano, so I'm not terribly concerned. In Roy we trust, after all.

Edit to add: Though given what we know about Roy, he probably won't sign any of those players but will bring in some young Scandinavian hotshot who we've never heard of who will turn out to be awesome.

I'm amazed that this seems to be the only Fulham site that isn't talking about the rumor that Roy wants Jimmy B to leave. The gist of most of them is that we're ready to let him go for about 3million. West Ham is the fave to sign him.

There'll be much wringing of hands on this site if he goes.
