First, I think these are fairly ridiculous and very much an attempt to create rules and registrations that people assume are "mandatory". Baloney!! :x

That off my chest, I can kind of understand some of the usefulness, such as for scheduling matches against out-of-town teams. So, with US98 Soccer starting our Academie/Travel teams, I am wondering what organization others would recommend. Your input will be used and appreciated.

    Cheers!

No, existing organizations, like US Youth Soccer, US Club Soccer, etc.

I see the value in our Travel teams being able to travel and play teams that belong to these organizations. Beyond that, I think these organizations are somewhat of a racket.

"Back in the Day" {eighties}, The OSYSA and lesser extent, ONYSA {north/south} played a huge role in defeating the attempts by OHSAA {football/Bball oriented} to limit HS Soccer players' participation in club games and tournaments. OHSAA had said 'Olympic Development' programs were enough. IOW, if you're really good at 12 or so, that's good as you need to get.

Both are affiliated USSF and thus FIFA. But hey, it's the only political game in town.

US Youth Soccer has been the first to reply to my request for information on and reasons why we should join.

    That's it so far.

For what it is worth Indiana's youth soccer organization only appears to be affiliated with US Youth Soccer as best as I can tell. I am by no means an expert on national soccer organizations but I had never heard of US Club Soccer even though they appear to hold a national tournament in Indianapolis. That of course may just prove my lack of knowledge and nothing else.

That helps, Barry. Because once we get a few years of competition under our belt, we want to find the easiest way to come up to Indiana and beat your teams. ;-)

Seriously though, I think US Club Soccer just isn't organized enough for what we want.

For what it's worth, this is what I know on the subject. Our local league is a member of OYSAN - a US Youth Soccer and USSF participant. The biggest benefit that I see our league getting from participation in OYSAN is ref training and certification, coach training and licensing, and league structure. By the latter, I mean organizing all the leagues so that teams are playing against teams of similar skill. OYSAN membership also provides security background checks for boogey men within the coaching ranks and insurance for players, coaches, and refs.
