Huge loss for the Olympic team. The kid can't get rid of the injury bug. Spector is still really young (especially for a defender), but it starts to make you wonder if you can count on him for the long term. All the knocks have hindered his development big-time.

    Good find Don.
It's nice to get an update on Spector. Good, young player ... has the potential to be a big player for us come WC2010.

Great news that Spector played the full 90 for Spam yesterday v Arse. This guy (still only 23) has stuck his nose to the grindstone and has worked his way back from injuries and been a true professional (please take notes Jozy and Michael). Hopefully, Zola will keep calling his number.
Without question Specs needs to be starting for the USMNT and it can be argued he is not only our most versatile defender, but our best.

Here's the thing about Spector. He can play any of the four defensive positions -- and has.

He was a pain in van Persie's ass and -- later on -- a pain in Bendtners. Last season he mastered Ronaldo and Rooney when they came over to his side.

Regardless of where he plays for the Spammers, I think Bob could use him in any of the defensive positions in South Africa. He'll have a couple of weeks to get him used to it.

The great thing about Spector is that he is a total player. He is not a one trick pony - he actually has skill! When he was discovered he just happened to be playing defense because of some personnel issues his club was having - he normally played up top.

You see this a lot - forwards that are made defenders, and it seems that their experience on the other side of the coin is a great help in reading the attack and giving them an extra step.

He is a lock in the USMNT starting 11 - now it is just a question of where.

Spector started again at Left Back today for Wet Spam and had a solid performance.
