Presumably, you're referring to the Barra Boy post on TFI? It'll be interesting to see.
    1) Dempsey; good deal. Half the UK footie press has been flagging that one.
    2) Like to hear from 'Fog on that one. I think the world of McB but I can't truly see him up for a 2 year contract? McB's reasons, not ours.
    3) Boa's at 'that age'. He's been a great player for us. But I think it's generally accepted it is time for him to move on. One last challenge, possibly back in Portugal. Can't see him staying in the Prem - and the news today that Everton's Moyes is 'eyeing him' is a bit of a joke.
    4) Cookie WON"T be speaking to agents, this week or any other. He indicates the players he's after - one of the suits does all the rest, not very successfully, apparently. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed on Volz.
    5) Great. After the debacle of FRP, there is still scope - and a realistic one at that.
    6) I'll hold my own counsel on that one. Objectively, I'm very grateful for where Al Fayed's taken us, but I'm not convinced it was for entirely philanthropic purposes.........

Owning a team in the top money making league in the world will never be a philanthropic nor altruistic practice.

As an aside, with all the money made, you would think a little updating of the technology is in order. But perhaps that is part of the appeal.......nah.

Of course it won't. What are your well-considered views on how the Grocer will get his money back? The Sky money, nope. Perhaps one day the local council will renounce its view that Craven Cottage must remain a sporting site - and other developments might come to fruition.........

I suppose I'll have to lurch up to the panhandle and give you a punch in the gut at some stage. Do they have decent restaurants in your redneck part of the woods?

I would love more Americans on the team. Gets the name out for the team over here.

Nothing like a punch in the gut to get anyone's day started. If you like hog intestines, chicken necks, and flattened critter surprise (served with sides of butter beans and collard greens, of course), then get your proper English palate on over to these parts and we'll have a hallelujah hoe-down!

Not really certain what I meant with the above statements, but sometimes the Southern spirit just oozes from one's pores.

You and anyone else are welcome anytime you are in the neck of my actually quite nice woods. If you like the beach, golf, and beautiful sunsets (can't get those on the East coast) with a drink in your hand ( http://www.budandalleys.com/ ), be sure to drop me a line.

Restaurant sounds good. Some shock for me at the realisation that it's been 25 years since I was in Fort Walton Beach. Hope they ain't spoilt it....... I've got an English pal who lives up your way and I'm threatening to visit him in New Year's - consider yourself similarly threatened!!! I actually like collard greens and must be the only limey with a taste for grits (with plenty of butter, natch........)

Just in time for the Chelscum match, perhaps. Although I haven't the foggiest where they would show it around here. The only place I know that shows any football is a mexican restaurant, and they are stuck on La Liga teams.

I'm sure there has to be a decent pub somewhere in Ft. Walton (which appears not to be ruined yet and still a hop and skip to Sammy's on Okaloosa Island).

Wow, Real for Gooch? I think that's not a good place for him to start. I'd be worried that he would ride the pine and not get the experience he needs. Of course, I'm wanting him to come to Fulham and so I'm a bit biased. I'd at least like to see him the Prem though.

Looks like we missed our shot on OO. I always felt that he would have been a bargain if we could have got him before the WC. I think he's ready to make the move to one of the world's 5 or 6 best center backs. I'm not sure we can afford him anymore. If Real will give him a shot, they deserve the benefits. I hope he's their defensive anchor for the next 10 years and that he's our star in South Africa.

Of all the sad words of tongue and pen,
the saddest are these "it might have been."

I'm excited about Dempsey coming to Fulham!!! Just imagine McBride and Dempsey up front, and they have a good relationship from playing for 3 years on the US MNT together. They'll do good together and both of them are tough ba****ds!!!

As for Boa Morte leaving, I'm a bit happy about that. I hope the money made from the transfer goes to picking up a good defender to complement Pearce and Quedrue. Boa Morte is very inconsistent and past his prime.
