This all being said the Chicago Fire is by far the best MLS name for a team with a traditional 'American' nickname...

And here is their logo -- I couldn't figure out how to directly paste it to the thread

The bird is a whooping crane. Too funny.

Jensers, I didn't like Sounders initially either. Though after finding out about the tradition that goes along with the name especially seeing as how the sport here has somewhat of a dearth of that, I've jumped on the Sounder bandwagon.

    Gala - pronounced = 'Gay-la'

    Hmmmmm....

Nah - Seattle FC will work for me.

Interesting that the voting ends this weekend, but they are not going to announce it till the 7th. I bet they are going to do the design work during that time and have some jerseys and other club stuff out.

    That would be cool.

Jensers, I also voted for Seattle FC because I agree with the statement about american teams having to have a mascot.

I kind of like Seattle Hotspuds FC. Grant County is the leading potato producing county in the nation (too bad Seattle's in King County), sorry Idaho. Am I the only one who thought Hotspuds was clever?

Haha, only oh so true Steve. Its the exact opposite on the east side state though. What about Spokane getting an expansion spot? Spokane Sun v. Seattle Rain. Perfect. That would be a rivalry for the ages.

Believe me Ian, I have spent enough time on the W side of the state(Yakima Training Center) to know that the desert part of WA is hot, dusty, and unforgiving. I think I saw 3 trees in an area the size of a county.

I really liked Seattle, except for the rain and it being so far away from my home state. Again, I find the team intrigiung.

Seattle is home to the U of W Huskies and while Wazzu is their #1 rival in most all sports, it can be argued in football the #1 is the U of Oregon aka The Ducks. Kinda of like changing the Crew's name to the Columbus Wolverines.

Pops was born and raised in Yakima (no evergreens, but plenty of fruit orchards), Mom in the west in Tacoma, I dig both sides of the state.

The rain isn't that bad in the Pacific Northwest. As great a city as Chicago is (still my favorite), if it had Seattle's winter nobody would ever move (Chicago transplants are everywhere).

What was this thread about??? Oh yeah, not sure why they don't keep the Sounders and change color schemes. Seattle is home of the Sounders, period.

With choices like "Republic" and "Alliance", it sounds like someone in the Seattle organization likes Star Wars!

    Gotta go with Seattle FC.

No offense BZ4L, but the "San Jose Earthquakes" are back & that name IS tradition.
You guys changed it from the Sting. =)

    My vote is for Sounders.

Yup - they went with Sounders and they went with the Blue, Green, and Teal.

    Yuck.

    Now I am pissed.

Contrary to Jensers I am thrilled with the name and colors. I see to many teams with red and blue as their main colors. Hopefully they'll go with green for their kits. The crest is somewhat disappointing though... oh well i guess i can't ask for the world and expect to get it.

I love the name, the colors and the crest! (Man, Don Garber's Kool-aid is delicious!)

Seriously, I'm glad for the Sounders name and can appreciatte the FC at the end, and the colors work for me. If I am a fan of a footy team on the other side of the Atlantic, then being a fan of a team on the other side of the country will be easy enough. I'm fired up for next year.

I must admit the crest is growing on me. I'm going to be held in suspense now until they unveil the kits. I'm glad to hear your interest in the team Steve.

    PS
Steve, I love the pic of Audrey Hepburn! :)

I really like the name, it is about as good as it can get in my opinion. I would have liked to see a more historical crest, maybe a 1974 thrown in there, oh well though. None the less its still great and I love the colors, a fantastic representation of Seattle.

heh... so much for that. gotta say that this was a common sense result.

And you gotta admit the club gave fans every possible chance to change it.
