What about Arsenal's Theo Walcott, he is listed as 5'7" as well.

I knew he was one of the shorter players and SoccerNet has him listed as 5'7".

Add Giuly to the list. Super squirt! Saw him play yesterday for FCB (Barca).

Sigh...I feel responsible in letting this thread collapse into whether a footballer has to be a certain height to play. For that I am sorry.

Of course, being short doesn't mean you're doomed to playing in a sub-par league. I'm just saying it would most likely help Mr. Adu be more competitive against the bigger defenders in the Premiership, especially if he wants to play his favored position of CAM or Forward. He gets the job done on the wing, but he doesn't seem to give everything while playing that position, like he's bored or something.

EDIT: BTW...DC United say Adu is not going anywhere in the foreseeable future

Nowak has taken it slow on the molding of Freddy, so far... and he's improved in attitude over last season.

I'm looking for Freddy to continue to mature.

No need to apologize...I always felt this story was a bit of Readings way to get some headlines and DCU's/MLS's way of being able to put the issue to rest.

To make Heather feel a bit worse for the height thing, it makes a huge difference for certain positions although look at Boa, he's only 5'7" IF THAT! The first time I met him I couldn't believe it...

Don't think MLS selling him will be an issue. I believe this is the last year of his contract and he will be 18 next year. As for the work permit. That's all to confusing to me. Threes seems to be exceptions to every rule, Freddy is high profile so maybe they'll give him one.

That's the point I was trying to argue, but it quickly descended into players that were/are short and play the game. Wingers don't need to be tall, just fast and can put a cross or pass to those up top.

Freddy seems happier when he's forward or a CAM and would be better served at being a few inches taller for the Premiership.

Spencer I'm with you, I don't doubt there will likely be an execption to the work permit rules in Freddy's case, especially if it's to a "big club." But not before he turns 18.

Crew had a pint size Guatemalan winger named Fredy Garcia. Sm,aller than most U-15's but he was good at eluding those who thought a body check would take him out.
