40% of Liberals are Independents. Interesting.

I disagree with that, andy, unless by "balanced" you mean "determining how many doctrinaire liberals and doctrinaire conservatives there are." The statements are too absolute and call for no middle ground. For example, "The government should help the environment no matter what" v. "The government already does too much to help the environment" [I know I butchered the exact words], only measures the extremes.

There are lots of polls that measure that middle ground. As for this one, my answers to the first two questions probably would have flummoxed the polster who designed it no end.

    Thanks for sharing, though.

Don. They do explain well how to handle that. I had to think long and hard on some of the replies until I determined that I did lean, slightly, toward agreeing with one of the statements (i.e., when forced to make a choice, one does so).

I was just pleased because "Conservative Democrat" actually exists and that I'm not part of only 0.2% of the population, as I had feared :-D

andy, you'll need to get in your way-back machine to the 2000 campaign, when "compassionate conservative" was the term GWB used to describe himself. Many pundits couldn't figure out what a CC was. Finally, Bill Maher summed it up. Compassionate Conservative=Democrat.

Don, why dont you just come out and NAME your political bent?

You forced me to identify {closest} as a neo-con.

WTF are you doing quoting a schmuck like Bill Maher? If you are a
Truman-type democrat just say so.. that's IF.

For me, I really wish we had one in the race.

Thanks for remembering that post. I'm sure 'fog remembers it too, but discounted it because there were no links involved.

Bullhockey... I can much more easily explain my exceptions to 'Neo-con' than Don can to his view.

I WOULD have said 'conservative Libertarian' I suppose... but too many of them hewed over to the Paul/Buchanan camp.

I'm a smoker but, like Neal Boortz, that's too much stench for me.

I must admit thought that all these 'conservative' pundits and folks like Powell endorsing Obama has me seriously thinking. Those people have their finger in the wind and they know what's in their own own closets. If it draws ever more close, I MIGHT vote for Bob Barr. I'm sure a lot of folks -that read a LOT- are thinking like me.

They say I'm Upbeat too - I never in a million years would've described my politics that way.

I'm an Enterpriser   .

    And a conservative.

    I liked this part --

I dunno -- sometimes FNC is as dicey a proposition as MSNBC or CNN, it's the reverse side of the coin.

    Enterpriser

"Enterprisers follow news about government and politics more closely than any other group, and exhibit the most knowledge about world affairs"

However, that is not me. I don't follow news about government or world affairs as closely as I should.
