Only negative that I take from the match was the poor defensive performance and a lapse in focus by the US mids and defenders. Much of that can be due to inexperience and a lack of playing time with each other.

Aside from that, I thought Rogers looked sharp down the wing and Wynne was phenominal. He is lightning quick and will continue to cause problems as he goes forward from defense. Also, think the side needs to get Adu involved more in the buildup. He let the ref and the game get to his head a bit too much in the game, but he is the creative player who will create opportunities going forward (example U-20's WC).

    Looking forward to Sunday...

TOM another problem, I thought, with the defense was Guzan. At least twice he came out and should have punched the ball at a minimum but he did nothing or missed. I have not seen him play more than a handful of matches, but I have yet to see what the hype is about. In one game I saw he literally let the ball roll between his legs. I hope Freidel can teach him something at Villa.

I think that is fair play to Orozco on at least one occasion where he was clearly confused as to which one of two attackers he should take on. He did pick the wrong guy to cover though.

That match could have very easily been 1-1. How the Japanese dude ate shit on the through ball just feet in front of the goal line was incomprehensible.

You're right, I suppose it is unfair to but the defensive blames entirely on Orozco because Rogers did never seem to get back.

And their finishing! I cannnot believe they didn't put their multitude of chances away. We gave them 3 unmissable opportunities because of blunders from the wing or poor judging of the ball position by Guzan.

I also agree that Guzan wasn't stellar, he had some good moments, but against a team like Nigeria or Holland that have talent and can finish, he would have given up three goals because of his mistakes.

Two VERY positive things about playing the Netherlands:
    1) The match is on USA Network, and
    2) It is on at 6:45 AM Central.

US down 1 - 0 at half, but I think they are looking much improved from the Japan game. Adu has got to pass it! When 3 to 4 players keep collapsing on you everytime you get the ball, someone has to be very open and that needs to be exploited. COUSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wynne is my new favorite US player.

Wynne has been good, and fast. Adu has had some great individual efforts, but he does need to pass when there are 4 defenders on him.

Looks like Holland quite obviously noticed that the left side is our weakest. Nearly all of the Oranje's best chances and the goal are emminating from that side.

Strange pitch. Seems to hold the ball up quite a bit.

The US clearly outplayed the Dutch today. No Adu or Bradley against Nigera but a draw advances them to the quarters and a win gives them the group.

Totally sucks. Don't like that our fate hangs in the balance with Nigeria.

Well hopefully Japan can draw or win against the dutch. That would put us through regardless of our result against Nigeria. I'm confident that we can get it done against them though.

A tie may not put the US through because the US, Nigeria and the Dutch could all wind up on 5 points and I am not sure what the tie breakers are.

Well, good commentators would have mentioned the tie breakers wouldnt they. Anyway, I looked it up and a tie will put the US through. First tie breaker is goal diff; the second tie breaker is goals scored.

Gut wrenching draw. Thee were so many chances that were either blocker by the Dutch keeper or were not capitalized on by the US. (Holden not centering the ball to a wide open Kljestan) The last 60 minutes were dominated by the US and I think even without Adu and Bradley for the Nigeria match the prospect of progressing to the quarter finals looks promising. I imagine that Altidore will slot in for Adu and Benny for Bradley.

    The pressure is on now...
