Usually I rail about overrestrictive CHOICE decisions made for the 'good of the masses'.

This time California legislation did the right thing in trying to outlaw mylar balloons, with a fully workable effective date of two years for new non-destructive products to replace them.

But it failed to pass by five votes. So little kiddies will still be able to have those cute and fun balloons, never mind the power outages - and big bucks fixes- caused when a few of them fall into high voltage power transmission facilities.

Since they ALSO dont degrade in nature as quickly as latex or poly balloons, it would only be common sense to take them off the market.

But then again, it's California... right?
