A goalkeeper named Jonny Walker. Now there is one reason to like Columbus, even if the guy would be better in a "red" kit. Although I think there is a "black label" also. Either way, the kid better be smooth.

Some solid players avalible. I guess alot depends on how many Euro players they plan to bring in and how much of their cap they'll occupy.

So Toronto can take Edson Buddle, which means RBNY traded Eddie Gaven for nothing or they can take Danny O'Rourke, which means RBNY traded Adrian Serioux for nothing.

Oh, how I am glad Mo Johnston and Alexei Lalas are not running that team...

It was genius of the Crew to put all four of their keepers on there.. saves at least one slot.

Walker and Busch were both out at least a season, injured.. and Gaudette though he played well this year is 'green'.

I'm a LITTLE surprised Gaven wasnt on the Crew list. I suppose Sigi still sees something in him but he definitely underperformed expectations.

And I'm pretty sure Toronto wont take Buddle.

So you think Gaven is done and dusted? I can't say I oppose that view to much but its interesting to hear this from someone who sees him frequently.

He dosen't have much speed or exceptional skill and his motivation is subject to question. Makes you wonder what all the noise was about. He was young and he scored a few times so they hyped the hell out of him?

Sigi, I think, sees something there... there is a little of the same attitude as Martino, but I dont think he was 'spoiled'.

Getting a crisper performance out of the Crew mid.. which would probably have happened if we'd had Szetela and Jacob Thomas* always starting, would have given Eddie a better 'forum' in which to play.

*One of the VERY FEW European lower division players who have impressed in MLS. Prolly helps he's a yank and understands Yanks

I see Martino is off to a trial in Holland. He does come off as a spoiled moaning brat. He'll fit in well in Holland with those traits.

I feel sorry for Andy Williams if he get selected by Toronto, unless his goal is to play for every MLS club.

I actually think RSL is hoping Toronto will pass on Andy Williams considering the rap he has as being a lazy player. Williams lost his spot at the beginning of the year and rarely saw the pitch until about midway through they year when Ellinger gave him a run out in a cup game against Virgina Beach. Williams was the best player on the pitch and ran hard for 120 minutes (the match went to extra time). Ellinger said in the press that if Andy Williams would work like that all the time, he would be on the pitch for every match. Williams never sat on the pine the rest of the season and RSL had one of the best second halves of the season in the League. Williams was terrific in that stretch and I think RSL is secretly hoping that they can retain him.

So I like playing manger/gm....and believe it or not I held my own expansion draft as if I was Toronto. Here is my team...
Toronto can only select 10 players....so even though they can select 1 from a team, they won't pick one from every team. Here are my selections in the positions they would play.

    -------------------------No Keeper Selected------------------------------------
    Bobby Rhine(Dal)----Tyson Wahl(KC)----Kelly Gray(Hou)--Avery John (NE)
    -------------------------Brian Carroll(DC)---------------------------------------
    Andy Williams(RSL)---Kyle Martino(Colu)---John O'Brien(Chiv)
    -------------------------Clint Mathis(Colo)---------------------------------------
    -------------------------Nate Jacqua(Chi)---------------------------------------

like i said...i like playing gm. haha
We'd have to get a goalie elsewhere since you can only draft 10 players here, whether that be the regular draft, or through transfer or trade.
this formation would require a lot from the wingbacks, but Rhine used to be a striker and can get forward, and John would be able to do the same imo. It's heavy in the midfield...I would give a lot of leeway to Williams and O'brien to make forward runs into scoring postions and Jacqua as kind of a McBride...flick on headers and hold up the ball. What do you guys think? Am I fired already?

    isn't JOB finished?

And are you sure you want Clint Mathis? But there are some quality folks on your roster.

What's going to be Toronto's name. They were the Metros-Croatia in the old NASL, and they had a good following.

I don't know about JOB. As far as Mathis goes, I would take him and I'd tell him that Bruce Arena is gone, and that he'd have every opportunity in Toronto to impress the new USMT manager.

Don't know what their name will be....i just wanted to play gm/manager. you should know HD, I've already played scout! hahaha

I'm familiar with John O'Brien. He played in the World Cup even though he seemed relatively unfit. But isn't he always hurt?

I have no idea (except for Clint Mathis, who apparently is a big underachiever, as 90:00 told me so) who the rest of your squad is. Although I am sure some of those guys are up and comers, based on the great promoting of them by the MLS, I haven't a clue.

But did you hear, the MLS is starting a "Beckham Rule"!!!

no question there are some risky picks on that team....but there aren't alot of options...considering most of these guys no one's ever heard of.

Heh... see when you dont read links?

    Toronto FC player classifications

    * Domestic players - Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents
    * International players
o Up to four Senior Internationals (non-domestic players who turn 25 years or older during the year).
o Up to three additional Senior Internationals who would qualify as Domestic players on a U.S.-based MLS team.
o Five Youth Internationals (up to 24 years old); two of these slots expire at the end of the team's 2008 season.

Now.. here's the thing.. pretty sure Toronto will use a domestic keeper.

And I guarantee they are talking to Radzinski... dunno what kind of move they'll make for DeRosario, but they will try.

The expansion draft was completed earlier this afternoon. Mo Johnston, head coach of Toronto FC, has selected these 10 to join midfielder (and Canadian) Jim Brennan on the squad.

    1. Paulo Nagamura (Los Angeles Galaxy)
    2. Danny O'Rourke (New York Red Bulls)
    3. Jose Cancela (New England Revolution)
    4. Adrian Serioux (Houston Dynamo)
    5. Nate Jaqua (Chicago Fire)
    6. Rod Dyachenko (D.C. United)
    7. Jason Kreis (Real Salt Lake)
    8. Tim Regan (Chivas USA)
    9. Ritchie Kotschau (Columbus Crew)
    10. Will Hesmer (Kansas City Wizards)

Interestingly, Serioux - who is also Canadian - won't be with Toronto FC. He has already been traded to FC Dallas for Ronnie O'Brien. I don't understand the move, as Toronto FC could use some help on defense and traded a perfectly good defensive midfielder (who did well in the MLS Cup!) for a more offensive midfielder.

Houston Dynamo fans must not be happy with this move.

Well, Jaqua is out of contract if I recall correctly. Rumor is Jaqua may be traded to LA. Or go to Europe. Or stay with Toronto. I don't know; but he definitely wasn't going to be on the Fire after 2006.
