    Re: RE: MLB Playoffs

    Agreed. I don't pay much attention until now and then only if my Cardinals are in the playoffs. I don't really care who wins now except I hope it's not the Yankees. It'd be cool to see the Cubs win but they are bitter rivals so if they choke, like usual, I won't be too disappointed.

    Heh, Don, love the Red Sox/Yankees statement. I totally agree!

    Absolutely not. I never booed A-Rod. In fact, that was one of the things that occasionally makes me embarrassed to be a Yankees fan. I don't see how you can boo a guy who hits 35 HR and 121 RBI (as A-Rod did last year) one year after winning the MVP. Terrible.

    And we're going to pay for it after he leaves this winter, which I think he will. They booed him right out of New York.

    Cool, dude. You get special dispensation from my knee-jerk hatred of all things Yankee.

    On the other site where I spend some time, there were a dozen or so Yankee "fans" who wrote the team off after the first two weeks of the season. In response to my "uh ... it's April guys" I got "It's all over. The Yanks will never make the playoffs again as long as they have A-Rod."

    Don, your Mets projection unfortunately goes by the wayside. This could be one of the all time tankjobs.

    Not a huge baseball fan but will watch the Rockies tonight.

    Ha, I appreciate it.

    Yeah, that's the kind of thing that drives me berserk. We're so much like Chelsea fans, it's embarrassing. I do my utmost to be a good, logical and dedicated fan, but frankly, if I hadn't grown up watching and loving the Yankees, I would probably hate them as much as anyone.

    Better get the 1st round predictions before the games actually start;

    American League;
    Boston over..gulp :cry: the Angels (Matthews left off the playoff roster, Vlad looks to be a DH only, even fully healthy my boys can't beat those guys in Fenway)
    Yanks over Cleveland (barely, this one could be an upset w/CC Sabathia possibly pitching twice)

    National League;
    Philadelphia over Colorado (could be some high scoring affairs)
    Arizona over the Cubs (Zambrano gets all the pub, but he'll get out pitched by Brandon Webb)

    I will take the following teams:

    Angels over the Red Sox (I am not sure how, but I think this will happen)

    Yankees over Indians (I think this will go five)

    Cubs over Diamondbacks

    Phillies over Rockies (I think this will also go five)

    Got to admit, the NL will eat themselves up in the playoffs, if the late season is any indicator.

    But there's ONLY ONE LOU PINIELLA!

    Ah, yes. From starting left fielder, to starting DH, to manager on Ken Harrelson's all time Carmine Derierre team! A joy to watch.

    The Cubs, however, suck, and I'll be glad if they go three and out.

    WGAF about his playing career... the worst thing the Reds ever did {Thanks, MARGE!!!!} was to push him out in favor of a wannabe who never became!

    We would STILL be the 'New Big Red Machine!'

    Fulhamfaninms; I'll try my red jersey tomorrow (my '02 champion shirt got shut out yesterday). Have to say it's not looking good. Centerfielder out, Vlady can only DH, the cleanup hitter Garrett Anderson has pink eye and his lead eye was practically swollen shut... in other words it ain't looking good. Must win game tommorrow and our starter Escobar has had shoulder problems the last 2 weeks. Can't stand the Red Sox, but Cleveland or the Yanks will probably have to be the team to knock them out.

    Extreeeeemly entertaining. As usual, the commentators kept talking about the yankees, yankees, yankee . . . . but those Indians just kept crackin' the homeruns.
