The dumbass Angels signed Pujols for 10 years and $250m. Unbelievable. My Mariners have become totally irrelevant now as the AL West will be dominated by the Angels and Rangers.

    To Z: SIGN FIELDER!

:D :D :D :D A Mariners fan calling the Angels 'dumbasses'? Loving it.

Arte Moreno is hyper-competitive, did he overpay? Yeah probably, especially on the backend of the deal, but the value of the franchise just went up, the advertising revenue just WAY went up, someone to be feared in the middle of the lineup is now in place. Arte will tell you that if they win just ONE World Series, it will be all worth it. The Angels will now move Rookie of the Year Mark Trumbo to third base, they've already traded for the Rockies catcher, signed Hawkins for the bullpen, and rumor has it.....CJ Wilson is coming home to make up a starting pitching staff that is already stacked that much better. Considering the first ever baseball game I went to was at the Big A in 1972 and have suffered through a lot of lean years, I'll take being one of the big spenders.

What a GREAT day to be an Angels fan!!!!!!!!!!

    MLB-Selig re-ups, What a Joke!!!

77 year old Bud Selig, who said he was stepping down when this contract was up, has reportedly decided to stay for 2 more years, at 22 million per (that's NOT a typo)   :angry-banghead:

Under his watch he let the McGwire-Sosa homerun assault happen when everyone in baseball knew what fueled it, then wink-wink acted shocked about the steriod era and reacted 10 years too late.

Has overseen the old boys network in which these fools think everything is alright, but tv ratings have plummeted to the point of a whole generation not watching baseball on the tube. In fact the baseball postseason has become the fans of the teams playing are the only ones watching. The NFL has taken control of October, and that horse isn't coming back to the barn. Marketing gurus like Mark Cuban have not been allowed in, because his ilk would rock the boat at the Country Club gin rummy game and Selig won't have it.

Was instrumental in not letting Frank McCourt buy the Red Sox, but pushed his bid for the Dodgers through when Fox was desperate to sell them. Everyone knew he was broke, everyone knew this going to end badly, but Selig didn't have a problem w/the Dodgers (arguably the 2nd most important franchise in baseball) going down the toilet, perhaps it might have something to do w/his allegiance to the team he used to own (Milwaukee) that also competes in the National League  ? He is now trying to be the hero by force McBroke out, but it's the equivalent of a bank manager giving Jesse James the combination to the vault, made sure the guards were on break, and after the heist deciding to form the posse to make himself look good.

If there's one thing to be thankful for under Selig's reign, it's McCourt not buying the Red Sox. That might be worth $22 mil a year.
