I'd love to see us get Ireland, but imagine his wages are too high. He'd be perfect to succeed Murphy.

Never say never on Bridge, but I'd think it's too soon for that to happen (unless Terry goes to City).

Yeah Ireland would be a great buy, dont rule it out over wages tho, you never know, Terry aint leaving Chelsea and so my Bridge comment was purely sarcastic!!!

    A rookie question...

The salaries in the EPL are listed as "per week." I'm used to seeing salaries listed in annual terms, the way they are reported for American athletes. Can I multiply that "per week" figure by 52 and arrive at a player's annual salary? Or is it paid only during the season, and if so, how many weeks is that? In short, what does "per week" mean, exactly?

Good question JP-STL Not sure Im 100% correct but Im going to take a stab at it.

Players salaries are reported and Im sure most are guessed at by the press (who other than that player really know the truth) but say a player is quoted as earning $8 million a year and of course British players would earn pounds, then they (The Press) would divide that sum by 52 weeks and print that, that player earns roughly $153,000 so sometimes your see an annual amount and sometimes weekly amount, in both cases it would be over a 52 week period and not just during a playing season.

We (The Brits) Like to know what were getting every week for some strange reason, maybe it's because were used to getting paid weekly and not Monthly like most companies now like to do. Never heard of anyone getting Bi-weekly like here in the States.

Thanks, Martin. Knowing that the weekly salary is for the entire 52-week year makes these numbers even more eye-popping.

These players make a lot, but I can't really say anything as an American considering Pujols is about to get paid $30m or more.

    BAD News GOOD NEWS:

Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer fears the club's success this season could lead to manager Roy Hodgson leaving Craven Cottage for "a bigger club".
    Full story: Guardian

But Hodgson will shun a move to Liverpool saying he is instead "happy" to stay at Fulham.

It's like "Brede Hangeland to Arsenal" all over again. Gonna be a long summer after 5/12.

I think we all fear that Roy "could" leave - that doesn't say anything about whether he's going to.

Ireland's talent is undeniable, but he is a wack job. I wouldnt want him in a Fulham jersey and I bet Woy would not want to deal with him either.

Yeah I wouldn't want him either. This is the guy who shaved his head in response to some of his teammates making jabs at his haircut... or something like that. Total nut case

He is also currently boycotting the Irish national team after it was found out he lied about his grandmother's death to miss a game. Instead, his girlfriend had a miscarriage.

It may sound nuts, but I would personally like to see him at SW6. I think Roy could mould him. It's obvious the lad is a wee bit nuts, but I think a lot of that has to do with mistrust of his managers.

Take him in a heartbeat, and no doubt that Roy could reign him in. The kid undeniably can grab a match by the scruff of the neck and change the outcome. Instead of strikers jus being considered good, he would make them "world class", including Demps.
