Whatever happened to the rumor that had Liam going to Reading for Ingimarsson and Seol Ki-Hyeon? That looks a lot better now with Mac and Bouazza out long term.

According to some on T-F-I.com, Stuutgart striker Daniel Lluboja has been loaned out to Fulham. I do not know much about this guy. I have read that Bolton was after him last season and I have also read he is a bit of a hot head.

Someone mentioned that he scored two goals for the reserves last night, but as is the case with everything in the first paragraph, I cannot officially confirm this to be true.

I'm disappointed that we're offloading Liam. Although his passing could be better, he's an outstanding young back and can only get better. Baird better turn out to be a stud is all i can say

not sure how I feel about this ...

Howard's move from Luton to Derby last summer had TONS to do with Derby moving up and Luton moving down. He's very similar physically to Brian, commanding in the air and not bad with his feet. He likes to lie deep and nod on for quicker strikers -- much like Brian has played under Lawrie -- and he's a seriously tough motha.

Having said that, he's not the quickest lad in the world. He's been around a long time and this is his only shot in the Prem. I honestly thought that Derby wouldn't keep him when they went up and that he'd go to another promotion challenger.

If we get him, we on this side of the water will like his style and graft and toughness. He ain't Macca, but who is.

No... he apparently wants/likes "stay-at-home" fullbacks. Liam is an attack minded fullback. Neither Baird or Konchesky go too far forward often and join the attack.

Ljuboja would be a real gamble. He has talent but he is apparently a head case who can't get along with anybody. Doesn't seem like Lawrie's kind of player.

Is Liam really that attack minded? 78 games for Fulham, zero goals.

I definitely remember seeing Baird and Konchesky get forward at least some in the games that have been televised, though I couldn't say whether it's quantitatively *as much* as Liam does so. Baird doesn't pass the ball any better than Liam does, from what I've seen.

The fact that Liam hasn't scored any goals doesn't prove that he's not attack minded, I don't think.

All I know about Ljuboja I know from having signed him for FFC during a game of Championship Manager. Big forward, even taller than McBride. One poster on TFI included a Youtube clip showing him scoring a nice goal from outside the box with his left foot.

Yeah; I think the attack minded crap is exactly that, crap.

Lawrie has scapegoated Liam for the 60 goals against last season, and that's patently ridiculous. Liam was our best positional defender last year. It was when he went forward that he was a problem. If Lawrie really cared about him staying put,
    a. TELLING him to do that would be easy enough and would improve his game AND
    b. why TF did he play him so much at right midfield in the preseason games?

I'm getting more and more on board with LS, but shopping Liam like this -- intimating that he's neither good enough nor flexible enough to play for us -- is a good textbood definition of NO CLASS.

No comment on Liam's potential loan deal, although I'd like to see him stay to keep depth in the back.

If you look at post #2 of this thread (from many moons ago) by Petty, it has proven to be eerily clairvoyant.

I totally understand where you're coming from, Don, but just to play devil's advocate, I'll say this: we don't know what's going on behind the scenes, how Liam is acting, what their relationship is, etc. I'm not saying Liam's attitude is a problem, because obviously I have no idea. But without knowing that, I think it's hard to really blame Sanchez.

Actually, I think Baird is a really good passer. He's crossed in from deep a couple of Fulham's scoring opportunities thus far.

McBride's goal in the QPR game was started by Baird who perfectly deeped crossed to Healy's head while Healy was running forwards and then to McBride. Dempsey's almost assist on Saturday to Healy was another deep cross from Baird that was headed very nicely to Healy. Both were just about the same play.

About them getting forward, of course Baird and Konchesky get forward some... but that is not what they're looking to do. Liam ran way up the pitch sometimes looking to get involved offensively like with the Dempsey Liverpool goal. Baird and Konchesky mostly get involved by crossing in balls from deeper parts of the pitch.

He may also just come down to the fact that Baird is Lawrie's guy and Liam isn't. So if he isn't going to play him, Liam needs to go somewhere else so he can get more opportunities.

Anyone interested in Thomas Gravesen? I guess Fulham is. I always like what this guy brought to the center of midfield when at Everton. He is 31 and his best years are probably behind him though. What does everyone think? Yay or Nay?

    Nay,

I am not big on what TG would bring to Fulham at this time. His time of bossing the midfield is over IMO. Don't think he would be a huge improvement over our current CM's. Though he would add depth.

TG may do for this season. Fulham sort of needs an enforcer to allow Smertin to focus more on the attack.

Yay. He's not an every match player, but now and again he shows up and makes his presence felt, like a hattrick for Celtic last season. He also didn't play that poorly against AC Milan in Champions League (not that Fulham will have to worry about that). Real is not a bad pedigree.

One more bit of info, girlfriend (wife?) is a porn star.
    Yay, Yay, Yay.
