This isn't a team. This is an internet chat forum. If I actually was on the team I'd be saying something else.

I am just saying that if you think Fulham should be a top ten side in the Premiership next season, you're likely going to be really dissapointed.

I won't shoot down the chances of a top ten finish until all the signings have been made and even after that I will be hoping for them to finish in the highest league position they can. Look at it this way Lyle...at the beginning of the last season did you believe Reading would finish in the top ten?

Crazier things can happen...lets not count out Fulham before the season even starts.

You need to stop with this balderdash. I LIKE FULHAM BECAUSE IT ISN'T THE BEST TEAM IN LONDON!!!

Do you not understand that it is Chelsea's fans who expect nothing but greatness? What does another FA Cup championship really mean to a Chelsea fan?

Writing truth, and hoping for success are two different things. You need to understand that it is possible to separate the two. Yes, Fulham could possibly achieve great things with Aaron Hughes as their captain and being their starting centre back. I am hoping for that, but I'm not going to be stupid to the fact that the more likely situation is Aaron Hughes on the bench and Fulham losing to Wycombe in the first Cup game.

relax dudes....the season is a ways away still...there's plenty of time for more signings...I think it's fair to say that LS has been working hard at bringing in fresh blood from all the different players we've been linked to and even have made bids for. as of now i'm not all that optimistic myself, but a lot more can happen between now and the start of the season so let's just move forward with HOPE that the best will happen. if it doesn't, then we can start to panic.

Look... I'm not saying Fulham WON'T finish in the Top Ten. Of course it is possible. I'm saying it probably won't happen, and I'm also saying you shouldn't expect or demand it to happen this year. Any Reading fan who thought their team would finish in the Top Ten last year was a fool.

If you follow Fulham, like HatterDon wrote a while back, you have to live with the fact that you are going to be up against relegation year in and year out. That's why I follow Fulham. Fulham has to actually fight for survival and whatever bit of success it can achieve... unlike Chelsea or Manchester United. I actually enjoy the struggle that Fulham has to go through every year. And if you can't enjoy the struggle at Fulham, you really can't enjoy Fulham I think.

The thread has been hijacked long enough and I would rather not continue to argue about it anymore. You are set in your way and to each his own.

Closing bit...I said Fulham was the best club in London and I stick by that statement.(IMO, the club suits me and what I value in a club) Wins and trophies are not the only thing that define a club. Fans, stadiums, players, history and community are fundamental element to a club as well. IMO, when you add them all up Fulham is top draw. May not be the best on the pitch, but they press on.

I'm moving on: LS claims more signings are on the way....maybe even next week. I wonder what he's got in mind?

Is the 3-4 week period up that Fulham can sign Healy now? I know there was that problem with Leeds, but wasn't sure if it was cleared up so players could be sold yet.

Radz is rumoured to sign for them soon as well.

You're right...I guess I've lost the plot, but if you would care to discuss it further send me a PM. Don't wish to distract from the thread anymore. Sure you have your reasons for the manner in which you support Fulham.

I'm sure you are a top supporter, because you at least chose to support Fulham.

    Cheers

Well yes I do find that almost all of Lyle's posts negative he is simply being level headed in this case.

Take a step back and look at our situation. We were absolutely dire in the second half of last season. We survived by ONE point, ONE. We've lost a handful of useful players and others have only aged. We've signed one utility player. If anything we've gone backwards. What leads anyone to believe this is a top ten team?

If we make some signing then maybe its in the cards. But in the meantime lets be realistic, were in trouble. I don't think thats doom and gloom fearmongering, I just think thats the situation. Its going to be a long hard fight this year.

Current situation may be dire now, but surely most supporters can understand that the majority of signings are made in July. There will assuredly be more signings and the top ten is not just what fans want, but what the players and manager have outlined as their target. Now that may not be within their grasp next season, but it is their aim.

I agree with much of what Lyle has said, but not to the negative tone that seems to be dictated in some of his posts. Lyle poses a valuable argument and fair play to him for sticking by what he said, especially with many giving him a hard time.

Relegation is a possibility and a rough one to deal with. I choose to wait for those claims until at least the transfer window has closed or a few months have gone by. LS is a good manager and he has been lining up some quality players. Hopefully they will raise the level of play in the side. Also, let us not forget the young fringe players that you outlined earlier Spencer. They can have an impact as well. If John can return to top form then he will be like a new signing as well.

A lot of hope to go along with the downside of the current situation. Well done on your posts Lyle. Did take a while for many, including me, to understand your point fully. Fair play.

First off, Lyle. Completely understand where you are coming from and I think you are half the way to understanding "FULHAMISH". In essence, Fulham will leave you demoralized when you are already at a low but will lift your spirits when you least expect it. Take a look at some of our results from the last few years...Fulhamish. Welcome to the Crazy Cottage Rollercoaster.

Back on topic: From the Guardian today, Aston Villa's midfielder Steven Davis is set to sign for Fulham for about £4m in the next 24 hours.

I thought I read earlier that he had a meeting with O'neil on Wednesday to discuss his future but maybe his mind is up already.

Fantastic news that the move is so close to happening. I posted yesterday Fulham were rumoured to be in for him. He is a class player and IMO would be the best player for Fulham in the center of the park.

    Thanks for the update Mike.

And the really nice thing about Davis is that he is only 22-years-old. Thus, he has the rare combination of youth and experience which is always a big plus.

Anyone else think he can be put into the starting XI straight away?

This is by shear dumb luck that Fulham can capture his signature now. All the fans at Villa love this kid and held him in the highest regard and now with O'Neill running the show he has been out of favor. Fulham can sign a quality player at a knock down price if you ask me. It wasn't too long ago that Man Utd along with a host of other clubs were chasing his signature for nearly double that price.

I think he can and I think he will. He has youth, experience in the Premiership, he is small, but tough, and he knows what Lawrie Sanchez wants in a team. It would be great to see him alongside a healthy Jimmy Bullard when the season begins, but I doubt Jimmy will be fully fit quite yet.

Tom...is there an injury update for Bullard? Any certain time that Fulham expects him fit for a match?

there hasn't been any update on the "in the fall" that's been the word for several months now.

Any prognostication about Fulham's chances are tied inextricably to Bullard's conditioning. Had he stayed healthy last year, we wouldn't have had to gut our defense to fill out our midfield [Boca & Volzy] and we would have had a more settled side. With the flair and leadership he brought to us, I believe his health would have easily contributed another 10-15 points along the way and we'd have finished in the top 10.

If we can get a "full force Bullard" by October 1, I'm going to feel a whole lot better about our chances next season. Like BMB, Bullard's whole certainly exceeds the sum of his parts.

Lyle, lets get a few things straight here, Firstly I have never said Fulham would finish in the top ten as I have never said they would be relagated, secondly taken from your replies you have stated "Team is a Bunch of No Names" (Fulham FC)..."We Suck" ((Meaning the Fulham team) "Isnt the best team in London" and everyone Fulham shows interest in is a "No Name" you have also stated you should "Lower your expectations"

Believe it or not my expectations every year and every game is to WIN, we may not do that but I will always expect to WIN. and take the lose as it comes.

Why do you support this club with so many low expectations and negative response beats me, Mike is correct when he say's this is "Fulhamish" all this doom and gloom THINK POSATIVE MAN!!!

Football is about winning and yes Chelsea fans do also have expectations, their dreams came true a few years ago and if we were all honest we would love to be in the same position as them. Buy who you like Money No Problem. It was Man Utd and Arsenal a few years ago perhaps it will be Fulham's turn soon.

Lyle please dont take this as getting on to you but your nagative attitude doesn't boost moral and that's what I dont understand.
