Some 'better than rumours' for you:

Aaron Hughes medical is finished and we are waiting on the results.

The offer for Kamara is 3m plus Helguson (good business in my opinion).

One of Mido's representatives met The Chairman at Harrods to discuss a move.

A move for a CB is still definitely on the cards (don't know who we are targeting yet).

I would be happy to sign Hughes. I did some research on him yesterday and liked what I found. He could definitely be used in the starting XI.

Lyle, you are right. My mistake Brunt is a left winger.

Mike, fantastic news about the bid for Kamara. Hopefully it is accepted, but for some reason I don't think it will be. Still not sold on Mido...probably because he is a head case, don't like his attitude and have a feeling he could ruin the atmosphere/chemistry within a side.

Read some bad news this morning. Bullard was told not to rush back by his knee surgeon and that means he would miss the start of the 2007/08 season. It is better to have him at full fitness a month after the season starts than to have him be only 75% fit for the majority of the season. Ask Liverpool about rushing players back...didn't work out too well in Kewell's case.

I don't think that's bad news. That sounds like basically what we were all expecting.

I actually thought, based on reports I've read, he was going to be fit by the start of the season. I guess not. Hopefully he gets fully fit sooner rather than later.

From the usual reliable source. ButI'm only happy about this if Mido comes also:

F#&*...was desperately hoping Fulham wouldn't sign him. He doesn't bring any pace to the side and is essentially a poor man's McBride. Hoping the source is wrong in this case Mike.

Hey Mike, are they still saying 2 million quid for Pandiani? (I think that was the rumor going around.) I can't see how he should go for more this summer than Espanyol paid for him a year and a half ago.

welcome to the board...we look forward to your posts. You're not offbase at all. In fact, there are quite a few of us that also believe the Defense must be the primary focus. I think Tom, PBC and myself along with a few others would all agree on this! great post and nice to have you aboard Ryan.

    Ryan,
I am with you my friend!! We need defenders and we need more than one of them. We could use at least two Premiership quality center halves as well as a left back in defense. As I have said countless times, I think defense should be our priority, but the rumours and stories I am reading are leading me to think this is not the case. If we do not improve in this area, we will be tipped for relegation. WE MUST IMPROVE DEFENSIVELY!!

So is that the battle cry for this transfer period..."WE MUST IMPROVE DEFENSIVELY" or "MILDLY IMPROVE DEFENSIVELY AND STOCK UP ON ATTACKING PLAYERS"...

The battle cry for me to the team will continue to be "Where are the Premiership quality center halves?"

The old man most assuredly is lurking in the shadows. He will be back. Oh yes, he will be back.

Reading's Seol Ki-Hyeon is on the verge of a £1m move to Fulham. (Various)

I think this would be a good move for old SK. I've been an admirer of him ever since he was at Wolves. He didn't get a great chance to prove himself at Reading last year. I hope this just isn't more "speculation" in the Fulham summer signings saga. This whole issue is the reason I haven't made a post in a while. I just can't speculate on garbage from the UK press. This got me out of my cave though. :)

edit: seems me and Don are one and the same. LOL

That would be good news. Better news would be a CB, but LB is still good :)

Haven't got a chance to look at the gossip or rumours today, but Ki-Hyeon has been rumoured to sign with Fulham and Chun-Soo to Chelsea. If Fulham can sign him for 1 million that is a steal. No question about it.

He has good size, not loads of pace, solid control on the ball and has a quality shot...especially from distance. The best part about him is he is versatile. He can play on either wing and Fulham needs that. Especially on the left.

Just got this off of the BBC... Middlesbrough are chasing Fulham defender Liam Rosenior and could consider a swap deal involving James Morrison. (Daily Star)

    Any thoughts?

Both players are quite young, but Fulham does have the luxury of having a fair amount of depth at RB. Morrison can attack well and plays with a fair amount of pace. For those who don't catch the Middlesbrough matches, he plays in an attacking midfield role and also can play on the right. Not a bad option, but I would be content with Lian staying at Fulham as well.
