Just got back in from the match.

Overall, the match was lost in the midfield and I hate to be a critic to one player in particular but N. Jensen cost us. He wasn't marking up to this one Wycombe right midfielder the entire first half and this guy ran rings around him which in the end led to Boca taking the guy out for a penalty. Timlin was also crap and lost his temper.

We had alot of subs and Academy guys in there some who shined (Zakuani and Omisousi (sp?)) as well as Routledge who played very good.

Runstrom had a clean break away and didn't even hit the target...in the end, that was the final straw and had a feeling we would lose.

To be fair to Chris, I am sick of losing cup games so early but he really had no choice but to play a team so young. The Premier League status comes first.

    On to Chelsea...oh how Fulhamish.

This is just simply a disgrace, two years straight we have been dumped out of the only competition we realistically have any chance of going far in, and quite simply its down to CC thinking that his squad is good enough at the lower levels to beat these teams from the lower divisions, he as not learned anything from previous years or what Fulham used to do when we were the minnows, these teams treat games like this as their cup finals and they come to play. If we are not going to treat them with respect or the tournament so, why go in it, teams like us who have no chance of finishing in Euro spots used this cup to get there. I am so glad I live in America at times like these because if you are a Fulham fan and go to work tomorrow your day is already toast, its embarrassing, it also means Fulham fans around the World have only got a relegation battle to look forward to again. Yes we have had hard luck with injuries but by his own admission CC said we have the squad to finish in the top ten, and surley if thats the case we have the squad to beat Wycombe at home!!!!!!!!!!!! I wont say this is the lowest point being a Fulham fan for over 50 years but this is getting old, and I think we Fulham fans can quite rightly ask when is CC going to take this tournament and the lower clubs seriously, because the teams record up until now is terrible.

I was somewhat shocked to see the result but then again, we don't have the depth of the big 4 clubs. Their second squads could probably win the Championship! With the injuries we have and Chelsea coming up, Cookie had no choice but to play some younger players. I hate to lose to a team we should have beat (I'm quickly learning what Fulhamish means :) ) but if we can get a result from Chelsea, this loss will be quickly be forgotten.

I agree with DaveNearDC. Premiership teams should not play in the Carling Cup. The FA Cup is enough.

    So it was your fault!

I remain optimistic. We weren't going to win the stupid cup, so we might as well bow out early and be done with it. We can get the boys healthy and not worry about the extra matches. The Premier League matters most. Bring on Chelski!

I agree. I can't say I cared about this cup. I'm more interested in finishing in the top half of the table (or at least not getting relegated).

I did care about the Carling Cup, but as many have pointed out, the Premiership remains the top priority. What bothers me is that the lineup we played should have been able to beat Wycombe. There should be no excuses for that.

Some on here have mentioned wanting to do away with Premiership teams in this competition, but I am completely against that. If Fulham were to ever take this competition seriously, this is a good way for the club to get into Europe. If Fulham and other clubs in the top flight do not want to take the competition seriously, that is their own problem. Regardless, the Premiership teams should remain in the competition.

Now, onto Saturday where I am a bit nervous about a shellacking. I am no less confident in Saturday's match before the Wycombe loss, but at the same time, I am no more confident in the team either. I am just hoping it is not bad.

Best case: This is a wake-up to any overconfidence.

Worst case: This kills the confidence of a team that may have been questioning just how good they are.

Please let it be the former.

    Carling Cup latest!

I figured after getting embarrassed by the Gunners this weekend in the FA Cup third round at Anfield the Reds would come out fighting. Instead, Wenger's kids have opened several cases of whup-ass on the Scoucers.

After 60 minutes, Liverpool 1 Arsenal 5 [and that 5 includes a muffed penalty]!

Oh Liverpool, how dost thy lie so low?

Update: Liverpool 3 Arsenal 6 [four goals for Juan Baptista]

Two comments: 1. fans saw some action; 2. You can pick up Jerzy Dudek pretty cheap about now.

    Wycombe 1 - 1 Chelsea

From what I've read, Wycombe apparently outplayed Chelsea.
