As has been mentioned before, Hatter Don's Luton Town Hatters won League 1 and will be in the Championship next season. Barnsley finished second to earn the other automatic promotion spot.
Today, in an apparent thriller, Charlton Athletic advanced to the May 26th Wembley final by defeating Doncaster Rovers in the second leg of their playoff series on penalties. Yesterday Sunderland (remember Sunderland?) made a one goal lead from the first leg stand as they held Portsmouth to a nil-nil draw at Fratton Park. So it'll be Sunderland vs. Charlton Athletic for the last spot in the Championship at Wembley...a year to the day we won promotion there.

When I started following Fulham, Charlton, Sunderland and Pompey were all in the Prem. Charlton got relegated after that first season or maybe the 2nd if I remember correctly. Then Portsmouth after an ill-advised spending spree with an owner whose wealth was a fraud.

normally dont prescribe to the "club X is too big/small for league Y" but willing to make an exception: Sunderland really have no business being in League 1 again. Look at this chart and sort by capacity!

You could fit the smallest 6 stadiums' capacities inside the Stadium of Light and still have 6k empty seats.

    Poor Mackems...
