BL II? Not a positive move tor Cooper. The league is inferior to MLS. The only advantage is the longer season and more in-squad competition.

I was intrigued by the "nobody ever did much" list in the article. Berhalter had a long successful career in Germany and did well in the USMNT as well.

    Anyhow, good luck to Cooper.

1860 Munich? Really? Huh, didn't think he'd move to a top league, but his previous Championship suitors have to seem sexier in retrospect. I guess if he's only in it for the "springboard" aspect, then any 2nd division in a top league will do, obviously, some better than others...best of luck to him.

And as noted above, the timing of posts is, like, you know, far out.

I'd be interested to know if he will be making more money in BL2 than in MLS. I read an article a while back criticizing MLS for losing players to equal or inferior leagues because of pay. The pay difference was significant to a single player, but very small (total $250,000) for MLS even when all players are added up. Supposedly, Clarerence Goodson was one of the players MLS lost that way.

I don't think that Cooper was on that big a salary with Dallas.

    $108,000 according to this.

I am guessing he will get a bit more in Germany.

I dont blame Cooper a bit for moving sideways.. and believe me even bottom dwelling BL1 MIGHT be called sideways.. for the money. If he plays well, he'll get more notice, besides.

Still wonder "Why not Coke League", though

    Cooper's low salary:
To me this raises questions on HSG's {owner Dallas and Columbus} modus operandi. And the problems Dallas has in getting attendance, not to mention team performance.

Just a short while ago Crew fans felt they were getting the 'bastard child' treatment. All that now is in question.

For player development BL2 is far superior to MLS. Half the guys he'll be playing with are former or future 1st division players and the coaching is much better.

I think it was a keeper. I was originally thinking Keller but IIRC he played at Gladbach when he was in Germany so I am going to guess Big Bad Brad.

On a more realistic note.. meaning a comparison one might have thought of.. is Cooper doomed to peak as a starter on a First Div team?

..nah, he might make it to a low to mid PL club.

    nice Strawman.

I think Berhalter is correct. Didnt look it up, either.
