Come January we'll assess how long Jimmy will be out and either get a midfielder in on loan or look for a replacement. Then again, we technically haven't replaced Steed nor have we spent the 3m we got for him.

As for Bridge, there is no way he's coming to us, not with Queudrue here and in my opinion I'd rather have Queudrue because the guy has been class.

To inspire some optimism, I have two words for everyone: Carson Palmer! (or is that only one word, as it's a proper name) Never mind!

He came back from a devastating knee injury in only 7 months! And so far, he's looked as good as his pre-Kimo (von Oelhoffen) days. Of course, he had about the most amazing, setback-free rehab of all time. But still, it can be done sooner than the 9 months. everyone predicted he'd be out 12-18 months.

Well, then again, a footie midfielder probably needs about 5x the mobility and strength of an NFL QB...nevertheless, maybe he could get back quickly and help this team stay afloat...and in the meantime, maybe someone like Routledge will fill ini brilliantly and keep FFC in the top half. Crazier things have happened. I can't think of any off the top of my head, but they must have, right?

It seems Jimmy Bullard is going to be well taken care of. He leaves for the US of A to see, arguably, the best Knee Surgeon in the world. Not a bad list of clients:

In the end, Jimmy really deserves to be back playing, the game needs a player like him, let alone FFC.

I never really thought about it that way. Not being able to do the thing you love must be gut wrenching. Especially when you have to watch it day in and day out without any participation (physically). :(

it's that very gut wrenching that keeps extremely wealthy athletes with red carpet to the hall of fame waiting coming back year after substandard year. It hurts to give up what you once did better than almost all of the pros in the world.

Bullard's injury was one of the worst Steadman has seen
Jimmy Bullard's latest knee operation has been declared a success by the renowned surgeon who performed it.

Dr Richard Steadman operated on the Fulham midfielder for the second time this week to try and repair the knee ligaments he injured in September.

"There's no guarantee he'll come back - I can never guarantee something like that," Steadman told BBC Sport.

"But all the signs are positive. We had a video that showed the injury and it was as bad as it gets."

He is here right now and is progressing well - he's a great guy

He added: "There are so many factors involved in healing that we just don't have control over, but yes, I was very pleased."

Bullard suffered knee ligament damage in a tackle with Newcastle's Scott Parker during a Premiership match in September.

And Steadman, 69, said the injury was one of the worst he had ever seen.

"If you saw the injury he had, you would think there would be no chance (of him playing again)," he said.

"His situation is certainly much better than when he arrived. He is actually here right now and is progressing well. He's a great guy."

Bullard underwent a first operation at Steadman's famous clinic in Vail, Colorado, shortly after suffering his knee injury.

The 27-year-old signed for Fulham for £2.5m from Wigan during the summer and had put in several outstanding displays before being injured.

There's only one Jimmy Bullard, too. I think he'll be back. There's got to be some karma in the world!

That would be great if he could return in this season, but I doubt he will. I love the thought of him wearing Black and White again very soon, best of luck to him and Fulham.

I think it would be stupid for him to try to... and CC to let him.

Most of us follow other sports, We know the dangers of trying to come back too quickly
I dont think many Brits follow that deeply.

We play a lot of different sports and know only too well the dangers of coming back to early. Bullard is an enthusiastic little fellow, but the medical staff would not let him play until he is ready, I'm sure!

My understanding is, that at one point, they were worried about him walking without sticks again. If his recovery is good then let it happen.

Im wishing Bullard all the best. I know he is dying to play.

Can anyone tell me everything he tore? I tore my ACL in half and ripped the meniscus in three places during our second game of the season, which was about a month after his injury. It was a long and demanding recovery but I am almost ready to play again, only about a month or so to go hopefully.

So apparently he did A LOT worse than I did, if at one point they didn’t even expect him 2 walk again.

I think he tore everything. The MCL, ACL, PCL and even the meniscus. It was a horrible injury and I would be shocked to see him back this season. I would just as soon see him come back next season fully healthy.
