Oddly enough, the first two carriers to land at the New Orleans airport after it opened... NWA and Delta... The Daily Show had a good quick bit on that last night... Because that's what you want, the bankrupt airline flying into an airport that was a makeshift hospital up until 24 hours ago and a plane that was worked on by a scab mechanic...

Oh crap, I'm flying NWA in November... it was nice knowing all of you...

I have met the NO airport manager... used to work with his wife at Lexis-Nexis when he managed Dayton. Before that he was Allegheny's operations manger until that skunk at Piedmont bought them to make USAir.. what does that tell you that he immediately quit?

Believe me, the NO airport coming back on line earlier than forecast is no accident; the guy is smart and to the point. He SHOULD be brought into FEMA operations.

No no no... If that man is smart and to the point he would never make it in the US Government...

Honestly, take it from me, and perhaps JohnnyCash has some input... the people of power in the government aren't necessarily people who have any business handling responibilites such as manipulating the nations budget, collecting taxes, or lets say... umm... running a country...

let the smart people stay in private industry where they can make a difference.

Too late, I just suggested to his wife that he try for the post. He'd be good at director Emergency Logistics at the least!
    Marketwatch article

On the other hand, they both lived in DC area for a couple years... doubt they're anxious to go back.

BTW: Note FEMA screwed the pooch on his airport capacity, as well.

Believe me... if he ran Dayton Airport during the air shows as he did, he can handle a tarmac full of planes, coming and going. Dayton WAS busy when he was there.. not like now.
