    heh...

    Don
    knows
    his
    footy

Now... just to put a point on it, MLS players are key in SA. Without them and their mid-season form, the squad is going to be really shallow, not to mention the better Euro players are at season-end tired. And the guys who aint playing in European teams prolly STILL aint playing.

That's why I'm betting on Rogers making the squad despite I grouse about how he plays on the right. BB KNOWS how he does on the left!

I'll complain about BB not using Jeffro as a super sub, but think about it. The other managers aint gonna look up JC's history.. they're gonna just look at this year. But Bradley knows his history, doesnt he!

Now... you might also rule out Marshall because of his injury luck and few appearances and that on the B/C teams. But Bradley knows. And all he really has to do is talk to Demerit and Boca about what they think about Chad. I aint saying Chad makes it.. but he aint out of the picture, either, unless Gooch does a miracle recovery.

Why is it assumed that the manager is going to come here and do fuck all with the MLS players? I can point to a number of managers who took the time to get to know leagues far worse than this one. Further no top manager is going to risk hurting his career and not pay attention to the domestic league.

You guys can talk about how Bradley knows the league so well, but he still fucks it up with insanely bad game management and not knowing when to quit on players like Hejduk. A too manager wouldve told Hejduk that he's not going to South Africa 3 years ago.

This is an ambition issue. The US has a damn good generation of players coming up and they need a top manager to see things through and keep hiring top managers after that. They can do that or keep on being happy with hoping to get past the group stages because their guy "knows the league".

Settle down. we're talking about the here and now.
Bradley already knows them and it's offseason coming up
And we'd have had some different results in a couple games. Remember he tied one away game all by himself? Relax... even Crew and Frankie fans dont think he's gonna .. or Should play. Bradley isnt blind.
I can agree with you on that and if we could back a year, fine. Otherwise the only guy to come into the slot, NOW, and have a realistic shot at better results is ... Sigi.

It's not a lack of ambition, it's a big dose of reality. The USMNT does not have the player quality to do more than fight for a chance for the final 8. Yeah, they're a top 16 team, but not a top 8 one, and their top 16 status comes from playing more like a TEAM than the other top 20 sides. But based on player talent? Squad depth? Let's not kid ourselves. Our best players are starters at mid-table clubs - and we don't even have 11 players who meet that qualfication.

Don't try to bring sanity to this forum, andy. We'll have none of that.

    Speak for yourself, Whitesbread!

Actually, while I'm a little disappointed it doesnt look like we even have a chance in the final.. something that many of us considered realistic after 02... I'm not gonna whine about it either.

This team is actually an improvement on the 02 team, overall. And let's look back at the 94 team if we want to gauge anything. Thomas Dooley being a near shoo-in for US Soccer hall of Fame is what reminds me of that.

Tell ya.. with the Crew, he was a vital cog in the team.. but international quality star? Not hardly.

Thing is... if we improve as players, and team plays better as team, the others arent just sitting and waiting for us.. they're getting better too.

I'm satisfied that no other team now takes us for granted. Confed Cup fixed that. But we sure's hell werent the 2nd best team there, either.

No, what makes me happy is when the Guardian Match Report on MLS Cup is just a match report.. no snides, no elitist commentary of any sort... same as might have been for the final Cokes League playoff game.

I think Nicol or Kinnear could as well. I'd probably rate all 3 over BB but it's a moot point until after WC2010.

Of course all 3 have an accent, so I'm probably over-rating them.

I have to agree with each of you. If we're talking MLS/US based managers, I don't think any are better than Sigi, with Nicol a close second.
