Celtic may be IN Scotland, but it's Irish Catholic down to the ground. It's as Green in that respect as its cross-town rival is Orange.

Aside from that, you don't really hate MLS so much as you like to act as its Don Rickles.

And Spencer is pretty much spot on about everthing the last year or so. Kinda scary, eh?

Oh come on. They're Ireland's club team, we all know that.

Celtic by definition is Scottish and Irish (and Welsh, believe it or not). It is the default Club for most of the Republic, is my estimate.

Wife's mostly Irish ancestry and my Scottish ancestry, plus wife and son being Catholic, makes this an easy adoption. That, and they are the Club I can support in the world's premier competition, Champions League. (Oh, and I look rather fetching, in a bit of a bad ass Scottish/Irish way, in the Hoops!)

I would have thought that vertical stripes would work best for folks with our ... uh ... rugged athletic build.

Don, I know two days of soccer a week hardly compares to the workout of strumming your six string, but I am not afraid to tell you, having a 34 inch waist makes me a happy camper, and I'm fast enough to chase down a few of the under-25's out on the pitch also.

I'll have to update the ol' avatar, if I can figure out how.

He would still have Boruc in front of him at Celtic unless they sell Boruc.

Which I think they probably will over the summer. Value is estimated at around 10million pounds, maybe more. And if he goes, it has to be at that mark or higher. Most likely to end up at AC Milan.

The Guzan transfer problem is too bad. The 75% rule, as HatterDon said, is quite an impediment. We certainly can produce Goalies and England certainly can use them. Guzan would have done very well and now the Transfer Window is closed. He would start for most countries in the world.

Aha; I can see the fitness now. You did look a little more "solid" in the previous avatar.

By the bye, I spend more time in the gym than I do playing the guitar, which you'd figure out within 60 seconds of hearing me play, but I haven't caught an under-25 under any circumstances for a very long time.

Play with that if you will.

Dropped 10-15 lb's after Tom inspired me. Didn't exactly follow his advice by the book, as I mostly just relied on the exercise part. But limiting portions, especially for dinner, makes a difference.

Didn't mean to insuate that you were not a mean, lean fighting machine, like Bill Murray in Stripes, Don. We'll have to have that footrace one of these days. First one to the pitcher of beer wins!

Speaking of which, the window has shut, time for another episode of "BeersWith".

at least til the summer transfer window.

Does the SPL have the same 75% rule that the EPL does? I'd still like to see him go to Celtic in the summer...

Guzan would have to petition to play at Celtic also. For some reason, many people seem to think the process would be more accomodating to Guzan if it is to go to the SPL.

So yes, they have the same rule in effect.

Would it be overly self indulgent if I made this my new signature? Prolly...

Was in Barcelona two weeks ago for the Celtic - Barca match and the Celtic supporters were disappointed at not getting Guzan. They really wanted him and are hoping they get a second shot at him this summer. Celtic is on record that they want him and they want to bring in Americans if they can - he could go to worse places.

The choice for Guzan is Prem\ Euefa Cup or Champions League. If he thinks going to Celtic will stunt his career he needs to think again! The reason they need him is because the current keeper - Artur Boruc is going to either AC Milan or Arsenal in the summer. Big clubs will see him playing for the Hoops.

He may be playing against ManU and Liverpool on the weekend but he will be playing AZ Alkmaar (or whatever they are called) on Thursday instead of Rangers on the weekend and Barcelona and AC Milan on Tuesday or Wednesday

The Villians are crumbling - look unlikely to see European competition next season...
