A lot of people were raving about Costa Rica before the Gold Cup started. One bad game and they are virtually out of the tournament. Canada is going to cause some problems for the US and Mexico...they could be a cinderella story (saying that in my best bill murray impression of his caddy shack character)

Well the 2 best third place finishes get to go to the next round, so if they get a win vs. Gaudaloupe they could still make it with 4 points.

It should certainly be interesting for Costa Rica.

The only sides that I worry about troubling the US at this time are Canada and Mexico. I don't think Costa Rica would trouble the US.

Bradley has prepared the USMNT quite well it would appear and has made the right lineup changes between the first and second matches. Players have been rested and should be fresh for the quarter and semi finals.

I've been impressed so far I must say.

ESPN is starting to pick up on this Canada story. Their fate is in their hands, all they have to do is win their game against Haiti.

However, in the C.R. v Haiti game, the Haitian keeper recorded something like 9 or 10 saves! Wow!

Hugo Sanchez is an attacking genius, but it has yet to be shown vicariously through his players. They lack the composure in the final third and that is great for the US and opponents.

Canada will need to do a little more than beat Costa Rica 2-1 to really impress me. Although it was surprising to see them come back from a goal down to win. That is uncharacteristic of Canada's national team and it shows that from time to time they can surprise.

Group A could end up with a 3-way tie with 4-points, all with equal GD, and round robin on the "X beat Y" rule.

    Guadalupe is really surprising me.

Group A is a bit of a mystery, but I am pulling for the Canucks and Guadaloupe to advance to the quarter finals. Not sure if it will unfold that way.

Surprise group of the Gold Cup so far.

Honduras had the chance to go up 1-0 on Mexico with a penalty, but missed. Mexico did not return the favor and converted a penalty in the 29th minute. So, as of now it's 1-0 Mexico.

Can't seem to find what channel/station it is being televised on. Help?

I am watching San Lorenzo and Arsenal at present but would love to watch the Gold Cup match instead.

I'm just following along with gametracker. It might be on something like telefutura, though.

Found the match and what a fantastic save from the Mexican keeper. Honduras is incredibly unfortunate to not be up 2-1 at this point. The Mexican side is looking shaky.

Hell of an elbow from Blanco as well.

Honduras has just gone ahead of Mexico 2-1 with a late header in extra time.

Hopefully they can hold on...come on Honduras.

    It's official. Honduras 2 - Mexico 1

Which means if Panama beats Cuba (which they should), Mexico has to beat Panama in order to avoid a potential 4-point quagmire for third place among the groups.

But wait there's more. If Mexico is one of the third place finishers, there is a good chance we could see a U.S. v. Mexico Quarterfinal.

I love Canada and Vancouver is my favorite North American city, so I'm happy to see the Canucks doing well, eh. But at the same time, I want to assertively beat them in the semis and absolutely crush Mexico in the finals (if those chumps can make it that far). If we're ever going to seriously challenge for a World Cup, there needs to be no doubt that we own North America. Today the continent, tomorrow the world.

Now wouldn't that be a treat. The US v. Mexico in the quarter finals. I was surprised at the resolve Honduras showed today. Albeit Mexico was a man down, but they took advantage of it and never looked back.

Fantastic pace to the match, a real evenflow of possession. Exciting finish as well. Well done Honduras.

With a comment like that you sound like those two mice off Pinky and the Brain.

Pinky: "Gee Brain, what do you want to do tonight?"

The Brain: "The same thing we do every night, Pinky - Try to take over the world!"
