    Actually he's right. The best thing to do would be to make it perfectly clear... any reasonable government of a state would see the logic. Wouldn't they?
    So how does he suggest..
    Well.. havent we been trying that for like, oh, ten years or more? Is this one of those "We're DOING something because we're talking about it!" things? And Sanctions against Middle Eastern countries have been SO successful in the past havent they.. ooops .. that's right they dont work ANYWHERE!

    Maybe the answer is also from Gates on a related subject:
    Hmmmm... let's put on our critical thinking caps, kiddies. Iran committed an act of war against the US in 1979. Help me out, here....
    {crickets}
    Oh, well.. good thing we've got all those anti-missile sites going in. If we dont or cant use offense then a good defense is what's left.
    What's that you say? Oh, never mind.

    So let's summarize:

    1. If we or Israel strikes the nuke sites, Iran will only build in deeper

    2. We wouldnt be able to monitor what they are doing.

    3. It's too late to stop it anyway.

    4. Strategy is to keep trying what's failed for ten or more years.

    5. We are limiting our defensive capabilities against missile launched nukes

    Then why the hell are we concerned with the ability to monitor them?

    So that we know the exact moment when Israeli's in Tel Aviv can kiss their asses goodby.
